Applying digital technology helps the dragon fruit growing model of Mr. Nguyen Dac Thanh's family in Lap Thach commune reduce production costs, increase productivity and value of crop products.
As one of the pioneering farmers applying scientific and technological advances in production, Ms. Van Thi Yen, Vinh Tuong commune, has reaped many "sweet fruits" from farming . Previously, Ms. Yen still cultivated in the traditional way, so the crops were susceptible to diseases, affected by weather and climate, and had low productivity. Realizing that it was necessary to change the production mindset to increase the value of agricultural products, in 2019, Ms. Yen boldly converted traditional farming methods to high-tech farming according to VietGAP standards. Ms. Yen said: My family has invested in a 6,000 m2 greenhouse, automatic drip irrigation system, lighting to rotate and intercrop vegetables, tubers, and fruits such as melons, cantaloupes, cucumbers, etc. Thanks to that, the family farm minimizes the impact of weather, limits pathogens and can cultivate off-season crops. Revenue and profit have increased significantly, reaching hundreds of millions of VND/year.
Similarly, the family of Mr. Nguyen Dac Thanh, Lap Thach commune, has invested in applying digital technology in growing and caring for dragon fruit on a scale of 4 hectares. With the support of the provincial Department of Agriculture and self-study, Mr. Thanh has effectively used the automatic water source and irrigation system, the automatic monitoring and fertilization system; the IoT system to monitor and forecast agricultural climate connected to the internet on computers and smartphones via specialized application software. The software displays parameters on weather developments, growth and development processes, watering and fertilization needs of crops... helping Mr. Thanh monitor and promptly supervise the development process of dragon fruit trees, adjust appropriate care measures, provide adequate water, necessary nutrients, and prevent pests and diseases. Thereby, helping to increase the productivity and quality of dragon fruit. Mr. Thanh shared: Applying digital transformation in caring for dragon fruit has helped his family reduce 30% of labor in fertilizing and watering; Reduce 30 - 40% of fertilizers and pesticides, help save water, increase pest control efficiency, improve productivity, product quality and production value. Profit from 4 hectares of dragon fruit also increased compared to before.
Currently, farmers in the province have widely applied scientific and technical advances, machinery, and technology applications to all stages of agricultural production such as farming processes according to VietGAP standards to ensure food safety and traceability; crop management systems; application of sensor systems to control water environment factors in aquaculture; high-tech closed-loop livestock farming models for automatic feeding and watering... In forestry, application of remote sensing technology (software, GPS...), information technology (electronic devices, mobile devices) and geographic information systems (macinfo maps, GIS...) in investigation, inventory and monitoring of forest resource developments; application of cell-cell-separated propagation technology...
Promoting the application of scientific and technological advances in production, the provincial agricultural sector has made positive changes, forming many concentrated commodity production areas with high productivity, quality and efficiency, contributing to increasing people's income. Specifically, the specialized rice growing area is more than 56 thousand hectares, vegetables are 4,200 hectares, fruit trees are 15,600 hectares; concentrated livestock farming, farm scale with 454.4 thousand pigs, 5.3 million chickens, 13.9 thousand cows... The average product value reached nearly 163 million VND/ha of cultivation and aquaculture, an increase of 20.3 million VND compared to 2020.
With the goal of modern and sustainable agriculture, improving productivity, output, added value and competitiveness of agricultural products, the province has built an agricultural economic development strategy towards promoting the application of science and technology and digital transformation in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, forming concentrated, large-scale production areas, key products, OCOP products, specialties, organic products, according to safety standards (VietGAP, GlobalGAP...), building brands for key agricultural products. Promote forms of association; develop cooperatives, cooperative unions to concentrate resources, attract and encourage investment in production, processing, product consumption, promote concentrated commodity production, according to the value chain. Continue to sustainably develop specialized, large-scale production areas, safe production; promote the development of concentrated livestock farming, high technology application; intensive farming, increase productivity and quality of aquatic products. Developing multi-purpose forestry economy associated with developing eco-tourism, resorts, community tourism, and increasing people's income.
