Bich Tuyen is not with the Vietnamese team to attend the world tournament. |
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) confirmed that due to personal reasons, Bich Tuyen asked not to accompany the team on the journey to Phuket (Thailand) from August 22 to September 7. VFV emphasized that it respects this decision and affirms that the team's door is always open for her to return to contribute.
In the list of 13 official athletes under the guidance of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy continues to play the role of captain, alongside familiar faces such as Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh... Despite the absence of Bich Tuyen - the main scorer, the Vietnamese team still aims to compete with the highest spirit.
This is a historic milestone when the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participates for the first time in the world's largest playground. In this year's tournament, the team is in Group G with very strong opponents: Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th) and Kenya (ranked 23rd). According to the schedule, Vietnam will meet Poland (August 23), Germany (August 25) and Kenya (August 27).
The coaching staff identified this tournament as a valuable opportunity for the team to gain experience, improve their expertise and prepare for the key goal of SEA Games 33. Before leaving, the team had an impressive run with the championship of the second stage of SEA V.League 2025 after a historic victory over Thailand.
On the evening of August 19, the Vietnamese team had their last friendly match against Kenya, which was also the final test of their squad before officially entering the tournament. Without the service of Bich Tuyen, the whole team had to show their collective strength to continue writing a new history for Vietnamese women's volleyball.
