On July 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of the year and set out directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025.

Attending the Conference were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the retirement club and units within the Ministry.

The conference assessed that the world and regional situation in the first 6 months of the year had many unstable and unpredictable factors; continuing the transition period faster and clearer to a multipolar, multi-center, multi-level situation, with profound impacts on countries. The domestic situation in the first 6 months of 2025 also witnessed many changes, including the reorganization of the foreign affairs apparatus with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs merging with the Foreign Affairs Committee, taking over part of the tasks of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

In the context of increasing tasks and higher requirements, under the direction of the Politburo , the Secretariat, and key leaders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully completed important tasks.

Important Resolutions and Directives of the Politburo and Secretariat related to foreign affairs continued to be thoroughly grasped and implemented. The favorable foreign affairs situation was maintained and consolidated; the results of upgrading and enhancing relations with neighboring countries, major countries and important partners were effectively promoted. High-level foreign affairs programs took place vibrantly with many outstanding results. The country's major holidays received the attention and support of friendly and partner countries.

Economic diplomacy and science and technology diplomacy respond flexibly and effectively to fluctuations, creating momentum to achieve growth targets and restructure the economy. Multilateral diplomacy is raised to a higher level, and many initiatives are proactively initiated at important forums to contribute to building and shaping new rules of the game.

In particular, diplomacy is closely combined with national defense and security, making an important contribution to resolutely and persistently protecting Vietnam's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and interests.

The work of overseas Vietnamese and citizen protection has been proactively and actively implemented, demonstrating the care and concern of the Party and State. Cultural diplomacy, local foreign affairs, foreign information, speaking, public opinion fighting, information provision and press orientation have been implemented promptly and effectively.

Regarding industry development, the direction and management work is increasingly methodical and scientific; financial management and personnel organization work have many improvements, ensuring that cadres meet increasingly high requirements in terms of political qualities, ethics, expertise and professionalism.

In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son commended the efforts of the collective of officials, civil servants and public employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and requested units within the Ministry to continue to well implement the key points and directions of foreign affairs work in the last 6 months of the year.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister requested that units strive to improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs activities; closely follow the situation of each country and region to develop specific and practical cooperation programs, plans and contents with each partner; promote the important and regular role of foreign affairs in creating and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, bringing relations with major countries, important partners and traditional friends into depth, stability and cooperation.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister emphasized the importance of continuing to perfect regulations and procedures, promulgating laws and regulations in accordance with the practical implementation of foreign affairs, bringing the foreign affairs work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and coordination in implementing foreign affairs work increasingly into order.

Emphasizing the importance of Party building, industry building, digital transformation, administrative reform, and improving work efficiency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son also asked units to actively prepare for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Diplomatic sector and National Day on September 2.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son inaugurated the new electronic information portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired the launch of two movements: "Digital popular education" and "Collecting and contributing documents and artifacts to the Traditional House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs".

The "Digital Literacy for All" movement has a particularly important political significance, demonstrating the strong determination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to concretize the Party's guidelines and policies in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation.
