Ministry of Science and Technology awarded appointment decisions to leaders of four affiliated units

On June 23, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a ceremony to announce and award leadership appointments to four units. Minister of MOST Nguyen Manh Hung chaired the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Ms. Le Huong Giang, Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, announced the appointment decisions of the Minister of Science and Technology :

Decision to transfer and appoint Mr. Trieu Minh Long, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Academy of Science and Technology Strategy;

Decision to transfer and appoint Mr. Nguyen Thien Nghia, Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality to hold the position of Director of the Department of International Cooperation;

Decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Member of the Board of Members, Head of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation;

Decision to appoint Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, member of the Editorial Board, to hold the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VnExpress Newspaper.

In their acceptance speeches, the appointed officials expressed their honor at being trusted and assigned tasks at their units by the Party Committee Standing Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology. They affirmed that this is not only a source of pride but also a great responsibility, requiring efforts, dedication and solidarity to fulfill the work requirements, especially in the context of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation increasingly playing a key role in the country's rapid and sustainable development.

Director of the Department of International Cooperation Nguyen Thien Nghia pledged to promote international cooperation in the five pillars of the Ministry: Science and Technology, Intellectual Property, Innovation, Standards, Metrology and Quality, and Digital Transformation. At the same time, he set the goal of building a modern and standardized international database, promoting technology transfer and expanding the market for Vietnamese technology enterprises.

Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Post Corporation Nguyen Truong Giang aims to transform the traditional postal business model into a service technology business. By 2030, the "Postal Department Store" chain will be among the top 3 largest retail systems in the country.

Mr. Trieu Minh Long, new Deputy Director of the Academy of Science and Technology Strategy.

Deputy Director of the Academy of Science and Technology Strategy Trieu Minh Long affirmed that he and his unit will focus on promoting training activities, especially developing a digital learning material system, improving staff capacity in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital management and technological innovation.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VnExpress Newspaper.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VnExpress Nguyen Thu Huong pledged to make science, technology, innovation and digital transformation content one of the newspaper's attractive focuses, while promoting the application of artificial intelligence in newsroom operations and expanding programs to spread scientific research inspiration in the community.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung assigned tasks to new officials.

Speaking at the assignment of tasks to new officials, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: Dare to change, commit and face challenges is the path to maturity, especially in the context of strong development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

The Minister acknowledged and appreciated Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang’s courage in leaving his favorable position at Vinaphone to lead Vietnam Post – a unit facing many difficulties. After two years of efforts, Mr. Giang helped Vietnam Post overcome the challenging period and prosper again.

Regarding Comrade Nguyen Thien Nghia, the Minister affirmed that this is an important position in the context of Vietnam needing to "bring the world's science and technology quintessence to Vietnam" to solve the problem of national development. Comrade Nghia's appointment is also seen as an opportunity to promote capacity, awaken the potential for innovation and creativity, and make practical contributions to the cause of science, technology development and national digital transformation.

For Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, the Minister sees the combination of journalism professionals and management roles as a new but necessary journey. The Minister expects VnExpress to play an important role in changing social awareness about the role of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Finally, the Minister expects that Comrade Trieu Minh Long will, together with the Academy of Science and Technology Strategy, undertake a new mission - to become a center for training high-quality human resources in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation for civil servants and public employees nationwide.
