Almost everyone experiences indigestion from time to time. Common symptoms of indigestion include nausea, vomiting, bloating, and diarrhea.

There are many causes of indigestion and there are different treatments, depending on its cause.

Below are some good foods for people with digestive disorders, according to the health website Healthline (USA).

1. Ginger

Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms of indigestion. Ginger is a popular natural remedy for these symptoms.

People with nausea can eat ginger raw, cooked, steeped in hot water, or as a supplement. According to Healthline , all of these ginger uses are effective in helping to combat nausea and vomiting.

Additionally, some people use ginger as a natural remedy for motion sickness. It may help reduce nausea and make the person with motion sickness feel more comfortable.

2. Mint

Taking peppermint oil capsules daily for as little as 2 weeks can significantly reduce stomach pain, bloating, and diarrhea.

Researchers believe that peppermint oil relieves stomach pain by relaxing the muscles in the digestive tract, reducing the severity of intestinal spasms that can cause pain and diarrhea.

Peppermint is safe for most people. However, people with severe reflux, kidney stones, liver disease, and gallbladder disorders should consult their doctor before using it.

3. Papaya

Papaya is used by some as a natural remedy for indigestion. Papaya contains papain, a powerful enzyme that helps break down proteins in foods, making them easier to digest and absorb.

Papaya contains papain - a powerful enzyme that helps break down protein in food.

Some people do not produce enough natural enzymes to fully digest food, so supplementing with enzymes like papain may help relieve indigestion symptoms.

Additionally, papaya seeds can also help eliminate intestinal parasites. These parasites live in the intestines, causing abdominal discomfort and possibly affecting digestion.

4. Green banana

Gastrointestinal upset due to infection or food poisoning is often accompanied by diarrhea. Some studies have shown that eating cooked green bananas can reduce diarrhea symptoms.

Green bananas contain resistant starch. Humans cannot digest resistant starch, so it continues through the digestive tract to the colon. Once in the colon, intestinal bacteria ferment the starch to produce short-chain fatty acids, which stimulate the intestines to absorb more water and make stools harder.

The above foods are very good for the digestive system, however, seeing a doctor for examination and timely treatment should still be the top priority when suffering from digestive disorders.
