The Fourth People's Hospital of Sichuan University (China) has inaugurated a clinic for people who do not like to go to work since early July, the South China Morning Post reported on July 21. The clinic operates every Wednesday from 8am to 12pm and is led by a team of psychologists.
The clinic aims to treat psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and work-related stress, especially for those who are often depressed or fearful when facing daily work.
Patients who come here are often young people, especially office workers, who are facing pressure from heavy workloads, fierce competition in the working environment or a feeling of imbalance between work and personal life.

According to Dr. Lei Ming, Head of the hospital's Department of Psychology, the clinic was established to meet the growing need for mental health in the context of modern society.
“Many young people feel burned out at work, especially when they face pressure from bosses, colleagues or unrealistic expectations. Some even dread the thought of going to work on Monday morning,” he shared.
Dr. Lei also emphasized that the clinic not only focuses on treating symptoms of anxiety and depression, but also aims to help patients find the root cause of the problem and develop stress management skills.
We don't just want to treat the symptoms, but also want to help them build a more positive mindset towards work and life," the doctor said.
The clinic's launch has attracted widespread attention on Chinese social media, especially on Weibo, with many users expressing sympathy and support for the initiative.
“Finally a place that understands my feelings of not wanting to go to work! I really need a clinic like this,” one user wrote.
Another person commented: “The work pressure is too great nowadays, especially for the 9x and post-2000 generations. I hope there will be more clinics like this in other cities.”
However, there are some mixed opinions about opening a clinic. Some people think that feeling bored with work is just a normal part of life. Therefore, opening this clinic is unnecessary.
“Not liking going to work is something everyone experiences. Is it necessary to go to the hospital for this?”, one netizen commented.
China is currently facing major mental health challenges, especially among young people. The “996” work culture (working from 9am to 9pm, six days a week) and fierce competition in many industries have left many people in a state of physical and mental exhaustion.
According to a recent report, more than 60% of Chinese workers feel regular stress because of work.
The clinic for people who don't like going to work is part of an effort by health facilities to address growing mental health issues.
In addition to providing psychological counseling sessions, the clinic also organizes workshops on stress management, work-life balance skills, and group therapy sessions for patients to share their experiences.
Hospital representatives also said they hope the clinic will become a pilot model to be replicated in other cities in China.
In addition, doctors also called on companies to improve the working environment, reduce pressure on employees and promote a healthier working culture.
“If we can change the way companies treat their employees, fewer people will have to come to our clinic,” said Dr. Lei.
