Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU, dated February 17, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups associated with tourism development in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, clearly states: Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups is an important and necessary task of the province. In recent years, all levels, sectors and localities in the province have been making efforts to restore, preserve and develop the fine cultural values of 20 ethnic groups living together, of which 13 typical ethnic groups such as Thai, Mong, Dao, Ha Nhi, Lao Lu, Kho Mu... still preserve many fine cultural features: costumes, languages, writing, cuisine, music , folk songs, folk dances, manufacturing techniques, traditional crafts, house architecture, festivals, and beliefs.
In the flow of integration and development of the country and the province, not standing outside, Lai Chau Newspaper is a pioneer on the ideological and cultural front by spreading the good traditional cultural values, precious heritages of ethnic groups to readers and people inside and outside the province through propaganda articles with the spirit of "journalism serving the people". Accordingly, Lai Chau Newspaper actively maintains cultural columns on printed and electronic newspapers. Wherever there are cultural events and festivals, the Editorial Board of Lai Chau Newspaper always sends a team of reporters to work, increase news, articles, photos, and videos about the activities taking place to provide readers with the most vivid images and films of the beauty and culture of ethnic groups. Typical festivals include: Gau tao of the Mong ethnic group; Then Kin Pang, Nang Han boat racing festivals of the Thai ethnic group; Su Khon Khoi festival of the Lu ethnic group; New Rice Celebration festival of the Kho Mu people; Tu Cai festival of the Dao people, Khu Su Cha festival of the Ha Nhi people...
Besides, on a daily basis, Lai Chau Newspaper's team of reporters stays close to the base, learns about the cultural values of ethnic groups that are at risk of being lost through the stories of artisans and cultural experts to reflect; writes about typical examples and communities with good and creative ways in preserving, maintaining and promoting national cultural identity.
The newspaper not only reflects reality, but is also a “cultural storyteller”. With simple, familiar language, combined with vivid images, Lai Chau Newspaper’s articles easily reach readers, especially the younger generation – those who are gradually less exposed to their ethnic traditions, understand more deeply about their ethnic culture and love their roots more.
Ms. Sung Thi Pang in Dong Phong village, Then Sin commune, Tam Duong district shared: the people in our village were also interviewed by reporters from Lai Chau Newspaper, reporting on the beauty of Mong ethnic culture such as beeswax painting, embroidery, traditional handicrafts. The articles were very good, we are even more proud and love our ethnic culture more.
With the trend of modern journalism "multi-platform, multimedia", Lai Chau Newspaper has proactively increased the content of ethnic culture on electronic newspapers, social networking fanpages of the unit such as: Facebook, Tiktok, Zalo, Youtube... with many beautiful images, attractive and creative videos. From there, spreading the cultural heritage of ethnic groups in the area to readers, the public inside and outside the province. Thanks to that, many people from all over the country, foreign tourists have not hesitated to travel far to Lai Chau to learn about the culture, experience the unique festival space of ethnic people.
Ms. Nguyen Hoai Phuong - Ha Nam tourist: Through friends sharing on Facebook, we follow the Lai Chau Newspaper fanpage to know about many unique festivals of Lai Chau. Recently, we had the opportunity to attend the very unique Then Kin Pang festival. There, we not only got to see the solemn worship ritual; watch the Thai ethnic girls wearing beautiful costumes, dancing flexibly, singing well; watch the artisans show off their weaving and spinning skills and we got to enjoy delicious dishes that we saw for the first time. We will definitely go to Lai Chau more often to immerse ourselves in the cultural space imbued with national identity.
Not only introducing, through articles that are close, authentic, and full of life, Lai Chau Newspaper also proposes many solutions to connect culture with tourism and economic development in each region and locality. Thereby, helping local authorities and state management agencies to have a more multi-dimensional assessment and come up with appropriate plans and solutions for effective cultural identity preservation, as a foundation and driving force for sustainable socio-economic development.
Culture is the thread that connects the community. Each ethnic group has its own color, but on the newspaper, all blend together to create a colorful, attractive picture with a spirit of solidarity and unity. Through the culture column, "Good people - Good deeds", "Bright examples of the Muong village" of Lai Chau Newspaper, the simple, familiar images of the people who are silently keeping the fire of tradition, building cultural villages, cultural villages for community tourism... are spread, positively inspiring the community. Culture will continue to live forever. And Lai Chau Newspaper will continue to do well in its mission of spreading and honoring that traditional cultural value in the new era with humane and familiar journalistic language.
