Previously, when night fell, most of the inter-village roads in Pha Mu were plunged into darkness. Traveling at night was very difficult, especially for the elderly and children. Community cultural and sports activities in the evening were almost non-existent due to lack of light. Life was confined to the family space, lacking community cohesion, affecting the quality of common life.
Based on that reality, in 2021, the Party Committee and the government of Pha Mu commune coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee, socio -political organizations in the area and Than Uyen Electricity to deploy the movement "Lighting up the countryside roads". The goal is to install solar-powered lighting systems on key inter-village roads where people and vehicles frequently pass by. With the motto "The State and the people work together", the People's Committee of the commune mobilized the participation of the entire political system, and at the same time mobilized people to contribute efforts and funds to complete the lighting system.
The first route selected by the commune for piloting is the route through Pu Cay village, 2km long, implemented with the support of Than Uyen Electricity and the active contribution of the people. After being put into use, the lighting system has been effective, so the movement "Lighting up the countryside roads" has quickly been expanded to the whole commune. Up to now, Pha Mu commune has installed 500 solar lights, covering more than 15km of 100% of the inter-village roads. In particular, the walking route around Pa Khom Bay, an area with potential for community tourism development, has also been installed with a lighting system to serve tourists and local people. The total cost of implementing the movement is up to 3 billion VND, of which 30% is socialized from voluntary contributions of the people.
There is electricity, making it convenient for people in Pha Mu commune (Than Uyen district) to travel at night or exercise.
Unable to hide his joy, Mr. Tong Manh Huong - a resident of Pa Khom village shared: "Since the street electricity has been installed, people have found it much easier to travel at night. Children coming home late from school are no longer afraid of the dark. People also go out to exercise, chat, and bond more than before." With the light, the security and order teams at the grassroots level and the night patrol force of the Commune Police are also more convenient in controlling the area. The situation, detection, handling of violations or prevention of risks of insecurity and order are carried out quickly and effectively. The number of law violations has decreased significantly, making people feel more secure in their lives and work. In particular, since the street electricity system has been installed, it has created favorable conditions for villages to organize cultural and sports activities in the evening. Thereby, contributing to building a healthy spiritual life as well as connecting the community and raising awareness of maintaining security and order from each village and household.
It is known that from the effectiveness of the electricity, Pha Mu commune continues to propose solutions to improve the quality and expand the movement. In particular, step by step building model roads, combined with landscape decoration, planting flowers on both sides of the road, installing security cameras at key points. This is a suitable direction to complete the criteria for building advanced new rural areas, at the same time creating a safe, green, clean and civilized living environment for the people.
Evaluating the movement, Mr. Hoang Phi Hung - Chairman of Pha Mu Commune People's Committee affirmed: "The movement "Lighting up the countryside" has received consensus and positive response from the people. The people are not only beneficiaries but also direct participants, contributors and maintainers of the power line project. From there, it clearly demonstrates the community spirit, responsibility and desire for change of the people in the area. This is the premise for the Party Committee and the commune government to continue to firmly step on the journey of socio-economic development.
