Accompany and develop
According to journalist Nguyen Thi Phuong Nam, President of the Hue City Journalists Association and Director of Hue Radio and Television Station, inheriting and promoting the tradition of Vietnam's revolutionary press, in recent years, the Hue City Journalists Association and local press agencies have focused on widely disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws and policies; encouraging and motivating patriotic emulation movements; disseminating socio -economic development; maintaining national defense and security; and proactively fighting against plots and sabotage activities of hostile forces.
Hue press is also an active information channel participating in social supervision, promoting critical thinking; detecting and fighting corruption, waste and negative manifestations, contributing to orienting social ideology and public opinion; regularly organizing the reception, processing and publishing of citizens' feedback, creating a multi-dimensional forum for all classes of people. Many negative cases, intentional violations of State regulations on economic management by individuals and units discovered by the press, brought to public opinion have been highly constructive, and have been resolved in coordination with functional agencies, creating trust among cadres, party members and the people.

Mr. Nguyen Khoa Diem, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Ideology and Culture Committee, said that in the common pride, Hue journalists have their own pride of a city that used to be one of the press centers of the whole country. During those 100 years, Hue press has always accompanied political, economic and cultural events not only of the locality but also of national significance. Through the press, the people clearly see that Hue is joining the whole country in a common cause. The event of Hue becoming a city directly under the Central Government marks the joint efforts of the Party Committee and the people, including the efforts of the press.
Journalists are facing new opportunities and challenges, even new pressures. When information and information exploitation become a global phenomenon, journalism faces many challenges. Despite such difficulties, developing journalism is always a mandatory order, contributing to the country's growth in the new era.
Currently, Hue City has a strong press force, with more than 300 journalists and reporters working. Of these, there are 4 local press agencies, 8 representative offices of central, sectoral and other local newspapers, along with 36 resident reporters and 32 reporters registered to work in the area. The number of journalists in the area has increased gradually every year, especially before and after Hue was recognized as a city directly under the Central Government.
According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, the press has taken the lead in propaganda work; reflecting social issues; promoting its role, properly implementing its purpose as an official mouthpiece, propagating the Party and State's policies and guidelines to the people. The quality of television programs, especially promotional channels, has been significantly improved, television waves have reached remote and isolated areas. Press information is transmitted in many rich, attractive forms, closely following reality, diversifying types, and multimedia propaganda and communication.

Responding to the requirements of the new situation
According to the representative of the Department of Culture and Sports, in the context of strong development of science and technology, of new media platforms, more than ever, the press must create a positive, mainstream, strongly spreading information flow, leading and orienting public opinion towards good things in society; making an important contribution to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity; building a system of national values, a system of cultural values, a system of family values and standards for Vietnamese people in the new era. Press agencies need to focus on improving human resources; attracting and developing young human resources, enthusiastic about the profession; strengthening cooperation and application of modern technology...
A representative of Hue Today Newspaper affirmed that Hue is a quiet but profound land. In terms of culture, in the behavior of its people and in its pace of development, Hue always chooses to be meticulous, not noisy but steadfast. Journalists in Hue therefore always choose to go slowly but surely, writing deeply rather than writing a lot, reflecting correctly and accurately rather than sensationalizing and attracting readers, and accompanying long-term rather than creating short-term effects. “We tell ourselves that journalism in the digital age is not only about knowing how to use technology, but also knowing how to keep oneself in the midst of information chaos, knowing how to choose what is worth saying and speaking responsibly. No technology can replace a heart that is honest with the truth, a heart that loves the profession, the homeland and the country,” said journalist Hoang Hai Trieu of Hue Today Newspaper.
Former Politburo member, former Party Central Committee Secretary, former Head of the Central Committee's Ideology and Culture Department Nguyen Khoa Diem emphasized that each journalist who wants to maintain his or her reputation and contribute to society needs to have the following basic qualities: A strong rational mind, wholeheartedly aiming for objective truth; determination to fight for the truth, not retreating in the face of any pressure. Journalists must have deep idealistic aspirations, wholeheartedly serving the nation, the people, and society; a cultural level equal to the development of the nation and the times; proficiency in using language; a decent personality to handle complex relationships in journalism. These qualities will help them make worthy contributions to the new era of national development.

In addition to the requirement to innovate the form and improve the quality of press agencies, promoting the role of the "warm common home" from the Hue City Journalists Association is also an issue. Journalist Hoang Thi Tho, former Permanent Vice President of the Hue City Journalists Association, said that the common home must be a space where members feel they are needed, need to be listened to, exchange expertise, be protected, and be supported... In the current context, when journalists are facing many challenges from work pressure, targets for truthful and good news and articles; from economic and life needs; fierce competition in the digital age, more than ever, members need the Journalists Association to stick together, accompany and protect them with effective, practical and legal actions.
