In the early days of June, in the houses filled with the smell of cement, the atmosphere was still bustling after the handover ceremony of the houses by the Party Committee, the government and the agencies and units responsible for eliminating temporary, dilapidated houses for the poor households of the town. In the bright eyes of the people, there was not only joy because of having a sturdy roof to protect them from the rain and sun, but also pride in hanging a picture of Uncle Ho in the middle of the new house.
Mr. Lu Van Tien in residential group 24 has arthritis and cannot walk, the family's economic burden falls on his wife's shoulders. The stilt house built many years ago was damaged by termites and degraded. Faced with that situation, the residential group reviewed and proposed that superiors support Mr. Tien's family to build a new house. The house was finally completed on May 18, on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday, with the help of the police force, militia, and people in the group. After handing over the house, the leaders of Tan Uyen town also invited Mr. Tien's wife, Ms. Lo Thi On, to the unit headquarters to receive gifts of a picture of Uncle Ho, a national flag, and an electric rice cooker.
Holding the gift in her hand, Mrs. On tearfully said: “My family will choose the most beautiful and solemn place in the house to hang Uncle Ho’s picture. As for the national flag, the police helped weld the bracket right on the day the house was handed over.”
Mr. Hoang Van Xanh in Cham Ca village is nearly 70 years old this year. The burden of making a living, taking care of and raising his children, and getting them married off has made him look much older than his age. He couldn't stop boasting about his new house, and excitedly said: "The old house was cramped, now moving into the new house, it feels so strange. I just hung the photo of Uncle Ho that the town gave me next to the family altar." Then he took the national flag, put it on a pole and hung it in front of the house gate. The joy on his face was evident.
Tan Uyen town officials help households get support to build new houses and hang the national flag.
Tan Uyen town has 76 households that are subject to temporary and dilapidated houses being removed, including 62 households building new houses and 14 households repairing their houses. Of these, 3 households are meritorious people in need of repair, 56 are poor households, and 17 are near-poor households (building new houses and repairing houses). The total estimated cost of implementation is about 9.67 billion VND, of which 4.14 billion VND is supported by the State, the rest is from organizations, the "For the Poor" fund and some other sources of support.
Implementing the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and the joint efforts of socio- political organizations, Tan Uyen town has reached the finish line early in the emulation movement "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in 2025, 1 month ahead of schedule. New solid houses have replaced the rickety thatched roofs and cracked earthen walls, which is a testament to the spirit of "leaving no one behind" of the Party, State and local authorities.
During this period, in addition to handing over new houses, the town also organized the presentation of Uncle Ho's photos and national flags to households in the most solemn spirit. The gifts, though simple in form, have sacred meanings, reminding families to always look back to their roots, preserve the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, and attachment to the Party and the nation.
Talking to reporters, comrade Pham Chi Muoi - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Uyen town affirmed: With the determination of the entire political system and the consensus and solidarity of all the people, the emulation movement "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" of Tan Uyen town was completed earlier than planned. The house was built not only with rudimentary materials but also contained the love of homeland and compatriots, which is the motivation for families to strive to reduce poverty and have a prosperous and happy life. In addition to the State's support, the town has mobilized donors and used the "For the Poor" fund to have funds to give each household a picture of Uncle Ho and the national flag. This is not only a formality but also demonstrates the depth of mass mobilization work to help people become more attached to the Party organization and the grassroots government.
