Warm homes of Great Unity

Venerable Thich Ban Hoai and monks and Buddhists of Bong Hinh Pagoda attended the handover ceremony and presented 50 million VND to support Ms. Dao Thi Ha's family in Thach Tien village, Quang Trung commune to build a Great Unity house.

We, along with the leaders of the district Fatherland Front Committee, visited the family of Mr. Bui Cong Luong in Phong Luong Street, Tan Phong Town, when his family was completing the final stages to complete the new house in June 2025. Mr. Luong happily said: “My family is a poor household with difficult circumstances. My husband and I work as workers, and we are frugal, but we can only afford to pay for medicine for our 3 mentally disabled sons. In March 2025, with the support of 80 million VND from the district, the support of parents, siblings, relatives, neighbors, and bank loans, the family started to build a spacious, well-equipped flat-roofed house and ancillary works with a total value of about 350 million VND. My husband and I's dream of having a new house has now come true. This is the motivation for the family to work hard, take care of our children, rise up, and stabilize our lives."

Standing next to the newly renovated house with fresh paint, Mr. Le Van Tam in Hoa Van village, Quang Hoa commune was so moved that he could not speak. Ms. Vu Thi Manh, Chairman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, said: “Mr. Tam has very special circumstances, he is a poor household, a social protection beneficiary, and mentally unstable. He has lived alone in a dilapidated house for many years. Every rainy season, he has to run to his neighbor's house for shelter because the house leaks on all sides. Along with the support of 30 million VND in the spirit of Directive No. 22-CT/TU, the local government has called on the people to support more funds, and organizations to help clean up and dismantle the roof; the village Fatherland Front Committee has taken charge of calculating, supervising the workers, managing the money, raising the walls, re-roofing, paving the floor, and repainting the solid 2-room house of more than 40 square meters, worth about 50 million VND”.

It is known that in 2024-2025, in addition to Mr. Tam's family, Quang Hoa commune also supported the construction and repair of 5 houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties. By June 19, the commune had completed the construction, repair, and handover of 5 houses to households.

Implementing Directive No. 22-CT/TU, Quang Xuong district has established and regularly improved steering committees and support teams from the district to communes and towns. The steering committees have stepped up propaganda and mobilized cadres, party members, union members, people and businesses to support in cash or kind; called on family members, clans, villages, and organizations to contribute money and working days to support households building houses with the view that after 2025, there will be no more makeshift and unsafe households in the district. Directed localities to review the number of poor households and policy families who still lack housing. As a result, in 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Quang Xuong district received support from businesses, organizations and individuals of more than 8,590 million VND. From this amount, the district has supported the construction of 82 houses; supported Thuong Xuan district with 800 million VND.

In 2025, Quang Xuong district still has 107 households with housing difficulties that need support (58 households building new houses, 49 households repairing). In addition to difficulties in mobilizing resources, there are also a number of vulnerable households that do not meet the requirements according to regulations because they have not been granted land use right certificates, have not found consensus and agreement within their families, siblings, and clans; do not have counterpart funds; do not have the ability to organize new construction or repair of houses themselves...).

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Xuong district Nguyen Hoai Nam shared: “To overcome the above difficulties, Quang Xuong district has mobilized the participation of the entire political system according to its functions and tasks, focusing on leadership and direction. The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and members of the District Party Committee are assigned to direct and urge each commune and household group. For households facing difficulties and obstacles, we will focus on propaganda, mobilization, and resolution of each issue. In addition to the "hard" support level of 80 million VND/new house, 30 million VND/repaired house, the district and commune levels are responsible for mobilizing resources, mobilizing households, brothers, clans, and residential areas to actively participate in contributing human and material resources to support the construction and repair of houses for people to meet the requirements on usable area and ensure quality. For 2 special cases, the district has provided an additional support of 20 million VND/household...”.

By synchronously implementing solutions, in a short time, Quang Xuong district has mobilized more than 9,718 million VND in resources (of which, the mobilized support source is more than 6,792 million VND, the source from 2024 transferred to nearly 1,267 million VND, the province transferred 1,660 million VND). From the above funding source, the district has transferred 3 billion VND to the Provincial Fund for the Poor to support disadvantaged mountainous districts. By June 20, all households had basically completed and moved into new, solid and spacious houses. The Steering Committee for the campaign to build houses for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in Quang Xuong district is directing the communes to actively complete documents and disbursement procedures, striving to complete the campaign before June 30.
