On June 7, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department, Tay Ninh Province Department of Health reported 3 cases of food poisoning after eating wild mushrooms (unknown species), occurring in Tan Binh commune, Tan Bien district.

The poisoned people include: Mr. Cao Huy Hoang (44 years old, deceased), Ms. Khuu Thi Hong Tram (wife, 44 years old) and Cao Thi Nhu Quynh (daughter, 17 years old) who were severely poisoned and are being treated at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC).

According to initial information, on June 3, Mr. Hoang went into the forest to pick mushrooms (similar to chicken egg and goose egg mushrooms) to cook and eat. On the morning of June 4, all 3 people had symptoms of vomiting so they bought medicine to take but it did not improve. On June 5, the whole family was taken to Tay Ninh General Hospital by relatives for emergency treatment, then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.

Previously, the SGGP newspaper published on June 6th had an article titled “The hidden danger of toxins from natural mushrooms”, reflecting that many people have confused edible natural mushrooms with those containing dangerous toxins, leading to many very serious poisoning cases.
