1 year of YouTube Shopping in Vietnam: Shopping video viewing time increased by 500%

(NLDO) - At the YouTube Shopping Accelerator event, YouTube said that after only 1 year of launching, the time spent watching shopping-related content in Vietnam increased by more than 500%.

Just one year after its launch, YouTube Shopping has driven more than 500% increase in watch time on shopping-related content in Vietnam, with more than 55% of Vietnamese creators eligible to join the program.

Launched in October 2024, YouTube Shopping makes Vietnam the sixth country to deploy this program, contributing to a digital economy expected to reach 200 billion USD by 2030.

YouTube is now the leading video platform in Southeast Asia, reaching 94% of the online population over the age of 18 in Vietnam. User trust is also an advantage: 89% of Vietnamese audiences said they trust content from YouTube creators, thereby creating purchasing motivation and strengthening long-term relationships between brands and customers.

Ms. Mukpim Anantachai, Director of YouTube Partnerships Vietnam and Thailand, emphasized that YouTube's goal is to turn the platform into a creative commercial center, where inspiration turns into action and users shop easily and reliably.

In just one year, the YouTube-Shopee partnership has seen millions of videos created across multiple formats, with over 2.4 million products tagged. According to Ms. Sarah Nguyen, Marketing and Growth Director of Shopee Vietnam, the power of authentic storytelling has brought clear value to sellers, consumers and the affiliate marketing community.

Many creators have demonstrated the effectiveness of YouTube Shopping. Among them, the channel DAM ME CONG NGHE - over 600,000 subscribers - by building trust and sharing genuine reviews, increased revenue 2.7 times and sales 30 times during peak periods. Affiliate marketing now accounts for 82% of the channel's income. Meanwhile, lifestyle creator Hannah Olala also reconnected with her audience through YouTube's new shopping tools, while maintaining a community bond based on trust.

The partnership between YouTube and Shopee has seen millions of videos created across multiple formats, with over 2.4 million products on Shopee tagged.
