There is a form of fraud taking advantage of the policy of giving 100,000 VND to people.

On August 29, Ho Chi Minh City Police issued a warning about many people taking advantage of the policy of giving 100,000 VND gifts to people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, to commit fraud.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Police, recently, a popular scam is that subjects send SMS messages or emails with strange links with content such as "Receive a gift of 100,000 VND", "Fill in information to receive money"...

When people are curious and click on these strange links, scammers can steal personal information, bank accounts, and passwords.

In addition, criminals also impersonate government officials, police, and banks to call and give instructions on "how to receive support money" and then ask for an OTP code or money transfer for "authentication."

There are other cases of creating fake fanpages and websites of authorities to attract people to enter personal data.

Ho Chi Minh City Police advise people to be vigilant against money-receiving scams, absolutely do not provide account numbers, passwords, OTP codes to anyone; do not click on strange links, do not download applications of unknown origin to avoid being exploited and having their property stolen.

Previously, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the Politburo agreed on the policy of giving each citizen 100,000 VND to celebrate Independence Day.

Implementing the direction of the Politburo, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of provinces and cities, according to their assigned functions and tasks, based on the direction of the Politburo, to closely coordinate and immediately review the recipients of gifts and deliver the gifts to people by appropriate means (bank transfer or directly) as soon as possible, to be completed before National Day, September 2.

According to the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order, Ministry of Public Security, people need to have a level 2 electronic identification account on the VNeID application and follow these steps to receive 100,000 VND on the occasion of National Day on VNeID: first, people open the VNeID app on their phone, then log in to the level 2 identification account. This is a mandatory condition to ensure information accuracy and security.

Next, on the main interface of VNeID, people will see the "Social Security" section, click here to start the process of registering to receive support. In the "Social Security" section, select "Social Security Account" to declare information to receive support, then select the bank you are using and fill in the correct bank account number. The gift of 100,000 VND will be transferred directly to this account.

People need to continue filling in personal information such as: full name, date of birth, citizen identification number, permanent address... for the system to compare data, check the box "I have read the purpose of sharing...", click "Continue." This is the step to confirm that people agree to share information to receive social security support.

After checking all the information, people need to click “Send information” to complete the money receiving process. The system will notify successful registration and proceed to process the money transfer.

In case people do not have a bank account, they can register to open an account by downloading the banking application, then return to the above steps to complete the registration procedure.

Statistics as of August 28 show that many banks have linked with the VNeID application to receive subsidies from social policies, including: Agribank, VietinBank, BIDV, Vietcombank, LPBank, HDBank, MB, Sacombank, PVcomBank, TPBank, ShinhanBank, NCB, NamABank, Kienlongbank, BVBank, ACB, Viiki Bank and Co-opBank. It is expected that more banks will link with social security accounts on VNeID.

For the elderly, children, and people who have not upgraded to VNeID level 2, if it is not convenient to receive gifts via VNeID, these gifts can be delivered directly to people. The delivery of gifts is required to be completed before National Day, September 2. Thus, even if people do not have a bank account, they can still receive a gift of 100,000 VND on the occasion of September 2.

At the request of the Prime Minister, the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities will direct relevant agencies and units in the area to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Bank of Vietnam to organize timely and safe gift delivery to people, ensuring progress as required. Overseas Vietnamese will also receive gifts through their personal level 2 identified VNeID accounts./.
