According to Ms. Ghislaine Dondellinger, Merck not only stops at the role of a pharmaceutical company, but also expands its social responsibility through educational , medical and nutritional programs, contributing to solving public health challenges in Vietnam such as: sponsoring the first Reproductive Medicine Training Center in Vietnam - CREST (under the Faculty of Medicine - Ho Chi Minh City National University), supporting training programs for Vietnamese and East Asian doctors in 2013.
In addition, in coordination with the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management ( Ministry of Health ), the document "Guidelines for clinical pharmacy practice for pharmacists in some non-communicable diseases" was published in 2019. The document provides guidelines on drug practice, as well as drug knowledge in the 3 most current diseases: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer....
In order to raise awareness and screen for thyroid diseases, in 2018, the project "Thyroid Change - For the women I love" in collaboration between The Merck Family Foundation and the Central Endocrinology Hospital organized free screening at 16 hospitals nationwide.
During the period 2020-2023, Merck participated in the Happy Vietnam project, focusing on 7 provinces and cities with high rates of stunting. The project contributes to reducing the rate of stunting malnutrition - a public health challenge in Vietnam. In addition, it promotes community health care through cooperation with hospitals and pharmacies; responding to the decline in birth rates in Vietnam.
Ms. Ghislaine Dondellinger said that over the past 30 years, Merck has witnessed the dramatic changes in Vietnam's healthcare system and is fortunate to be a part of that journey.
In the next phase, Merck will expand its social responsibility through education, health and nutrition programs, contributing to solving public health challenges in Vietnam.
