In the coming time, the province will continue to exploit its advantages, creating new breakthroughs in developing agricultural production associated with building increasingly rich, civilized and modern rural areas.

From the land of steel to the prosperous new countryside

Loc Ninh Commune, Dong Nai Province is considered the "resistance capital" of the country at one time with many historical sites.

After liberation, Loc Ninh continued to promote its heroic tradition, strive to develop, and achieve many impressive achievements in many fields. In particular, with the New Rural Construction Movement, Loc Ninh has constantly changed, becoming a rich and beautiful countryside. In the 2020-2025 term, Loc Ninh achieved many important and comprehensive results such as: The economic growth rate of the commune continued to develop steadily, in which the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production accounted for 55%; industry and construction accounted for 21%; trade and services accounted for 24%. Average income per capita reached 89 million VND/year. With economic development, the material and spiritual life of the people has changed significantly; the infrastructure of the commune is increasingly invested in to be spacious, clean and beautiful.

The old Xuan Loc district was once a land of fire during the war with a heroic history of the army and people opening the steel door to the East to liberate Saigon and unify the country.

The heroic land of Xuan Loc has made breakthroughs in socio-economic development, becoming the leading locality in the country in building new rural areas. In 2014, Xuan Loc was the first district in the country to achieve the new rural district standard. In 2023, Xuan Loc was the first district in Dong Nai province (old) and one of the first 3 districts in the country to achieve the advanced new rural district standard. In 2024, the district completed the model new rural area target, one year ahead of schedule.

Most impressively, the material and spiritual life of rural people has clearly improved, and the quality of life has been constantly improved. In 2024, the average income per capita in rural areas reached nearly 95.4 million VND/person, much higher than the average level of the province. The poverty rate according to the Central standard has decreased to more than 0.5%.

According to Party Secretary and Chairwoman of Xuan Loc Commune People's Council Nguyen Thi Cat Tien, the commune's goal is to aim for comprehensive development, especially in the fields of tourism, trade - services, urban areas, high-tech agriculture and agricultural processing industry. The commune will create a breakthrough in infrastructure investment to attract investors in the agricultural and rural sectors, aiming to build a modern new-style rural area.

Modern rural development, rich in identity

After the merger, Dong Nai province has a large area of industrial crops and fruit trees with a total area of over 609 thousand hectares. Of which, some key industrial crops with the largest area in the country such as rubber, cashew, pepper... have formed large specialized areas. The province also has the advantage of developing the area of fruit trees with high economic efficiency and is a pioneer in making export growing area codes. Up to now, the whole province has 215 export growing area codes for durian, tissue culture banana... with a scale of over 15 thousand hectares and 59 packaging facilities have been granted codes to serve exports to other countries.

Dong Nai is also the livestock “capital” of the country with a total herd of nearly 4.2 million pigs and a total herd of 35.9 million poultry… The livestock industry has promoted the application of high technology with many of the most advanced and modern models today; gradually transforming from small-scale livestock farming to industrial farming with large-scale commodities.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Van Thang commented: After the merger, the province has a lot of room to develop the agricultural sector. In addition to developing production, the province also focuses on investment to continuously improve the value and competitive advantage of agricultural products. The province is very interested in programs to support businesses, cooperatives, and farmers in building brands and trademarks of agricultural products. Typically, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has been strongly implemented, going into depth, becoming a highlight in rural economic development. To date, the whole province has 481 OCOP products, including 11 5-star OCOP products, 25% of products reaching 4-star OCOP.

Ms. Vo Thi Hien, owner of Co Hai Clean Pepper Production Facility in Dak O Commune, chose to start a business processing pepper products in 2019. This is one of the first facilities in Binh Phuoc Province (old) to have products that have achieved OCOP certification. Currently, the facility has 4-star OCOP products including: black pepper, crispy dried Thai jackfruit. The facility is providing good products to supermarkets, convenience stores as well as processing and exporting to many countries around the world.

Ms. Hien shared: During the start-up process, the facility received a lot of support from the provincial and local authorities such as: accessing local industrial promotion funds to support investment in machinery and equipment for processing investment; being supported to participate in exhibitions and trade promotion activities inside and outside the province...

Determining that building a new rural area has only a starting point, not an ending point, Dong Nai will continue to make breakthroughs in building a modern and happy new rural area. The province continues to focus on developing production, constantly increasing people's income, always considering this as the root in building a new rural area. In particular, applying science and technology to production, preservation, and processing of agricultural products and food is a particularly important breakthrough to promote agricultural production and rural economic development.

After the merger, the whole province has 67 communes meeting the new rural standards; 25 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards and 8 communes meeting the model new rural standards according to the set of criteria for the period 2021-2025. Dong Nai continues to lead the country in building new rural areas with the goal of striving to achieve modern new rural areas. Localities not only focus on economic development, but also preserve and promote the values and significance of historical relics, cultural identities, etc.

Ms. Dieu Thi Nheo, a Stieng ethnic person in Bu Gia Map commune, shared: “I am very proud to wear my ethnic costume, contributing to promoting ethnic culture. The ethnic costume is often worn by villagers on formal occasions such as festivals, Tet, community activities, weddings, etc. Accordingly, brocade weaving is an important traditional profession, both creating a livelihood and an indispensable part of the lives of the Stieng ethnic people in Bu Gia Map”.
