Avuong mountainous commune proactively responds to storm No. 5

On August 24, Mr. Briu Quan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Avuong Commune, Head of the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of the Commune, said that the locality has just mobilized forces to inspect and grasp the situation of residential areas at high risk of landslides. At the same time, he supported people to reinforce their houses and proactively take measures to evacuate people and property when there is a storm.

Thoroughly grasping the content of Official Dispatch No. 3/CD-UBND dated August 23, 2025 of the Chairman of the City People's Committee, in the afternoon of the same day, the People's Committee of Avuong commune urgently directed the implementation of a meeting, informing all cadres and people in the commune about the situation of storm No. 5.

Members of the Commune's Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense were assigned to go to the villages to inspect the situation and promptly grasp developments in vulnerable areas prone to landslides, flash floods, inundation and traffic jams.

Along with the inspection work, Avuong commune requires villages to step up propaganda and mobilize people to proactively reinforce their houses, protect their property, and stockpile food, drinking water, and necessities.

"For areas at high risk of natural disasters, the commune government has prepared plans to evacuate people to safe places, minimizing damage to people and property when the storm makes landfall," said Chairman of the People's Committee of Avuong Commune Briu Quan.

According to records, from early afternoon on August 23 until now, in Avuong commune, there has been localized heavy rain, rain in some areas, intermittently. Heavy rain has made many inter-village roads slippery, posing a risk of landslides, affecting people's travel.

Faced with complicated weather conditions, the government and people of Avuong commune have raised their vigilance, solidarity, and proactiveness in response work to minimize risks.
