World Vision and Panasonic donate 510 solar lamps to poor households in Dien Bien

On December 19, World Vision International in Vietnam and Panasonic Corporation donated 510 portable solar lamps to households in Tua Chua and Muong Cha districts ( Dien Bien province).

The program aims to help improve the quality of life of the people, especially helping children in difficult circumstances to study better at home. This is an activity within the framework of Panasonic's global project with the aim of bringing light to areas without electricity. Thereby supporting local communities to have closer access to opportunities ineducation , health care, increase income, towards poverty reduction and sustainable development.

According to Mr. Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam, since its launch in 2013, Panasonic has donated more than 100,000 solar lamps using the company's renewable energy technology to disadvantaged areas in more than 30 countries. In Vietnam, the project donated more than 2,800 solar lamps, positively changing the lives of people in areas without electricity in Dien Bien, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces in the period of 2015-2023.

Representatives of World Vision International in Vietnam and Panasonic donated 510 solar lamps to poor households in Dien Bien.

In Dien Bien province, in 2015, in cooperation with World Vision International in Vietnam, Panasonic donated 630 solar lanterns to schools, health stations and community organizations in the four districts of Muong Cha, Tuan Giao, Dien Bien Dong and Tua Chua. World Vision International in Vietnam is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the project and ensuring that the solar lanterns are used effectively to create a better life for children, their families and their communities in areas without electricity.

"In this donation, thanks to the effective coordination of World Vision International in Vietnam and the local government of Dien Bien province, Panasonic successfully handed over a batch of 510 solar lights to Tua Chua and Muong Cha districts. The happy faces of the children and local people when receiving the gifts really encouraged us to carry out this meaningful work," said Mr. Marukawa Yoichi.

Mr. Doseba Tua Sinay, Chief Representative of World Vision International in Vietnam, said that Dien Bien continues to be a priority area for World Vision International in Vietnam to realize the commitment "For a meaningful life for every child". In the coming time, the organization will continue to cooperate with local partners to mobilize more funding for environmental protection and climate change response projects, contributing to creating sustainable solutions for the province.

Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang hopes that in the future, through the connection of World Vision International in Vietnam, foreign companies and organizations will continue to care for and help poor districts of the province to have conditions to rise up, develop socio-economy, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.

World Vision International in Vietnam and Panasonic gave the lights and instructed people on how to use them.

Also on December 19, representatives of Panasonic Corporation visited the households that received the lamps and instructed local people on how to use the solar lamps. At the same time, the Corporation also organized a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) experience session for local students. With intuitive and interesting toolkits, the experience session integrated knowledge and messages on environmental protection and efficient use of energy thanks to clean energy sources for the children.
