Wirtz in Liverpool's highest salary group

Florian Wirtz is set to become one of Liverpool's highest-paid players if he completes his expensive move.

According to the Daily Mail , Liverpool have agreed transfer terms with Bayer Leverkusen for Wirtz. The two parties have agreed an initial fee of £100m, which could rise to £116m based on performance-related bonuses, including winning the Champions League and Premier League, and Wirtz has played a key role in Liverpool's journey.

According to Sky Sports , Wirtz will receive a basic salary of £10m a year, equivalent to around £195,000 a week. This salary could rise by a further £12.77m (more than £245,000 a week) if individual and team bonuses are triggered.

With these figures, Wirtz is among Liverpool's highest-earning players. But he still ranks behind the club's two biggest stars.

Mohamed Salah, who signed a new contract in April, is on £380,000 a week, while captain Virgil van Dijk is the highest earner on around £400,000 a week.

Wirtz is expected to play as a number 10 under manager Arne Slot, and could also be given the option to play wider, deeper in midfield, or as a false nine.

In the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, Wirtz scored 10 goals and had 12 assists, playing an important role in helping Leverkusen compete fiercely with Bayern Munich in the championship race.
