At that time, there were 3 crew members on board.
At the time of inspection, Mr. Cuong confessed that the fishing boat was transporting about 35,000 liters of DO oil without documents proving the legal origin of the goods.

On the same day, August 24, about 142 nautical miles southeast of Bo De estuary ( Ca Mau province), the Coast Guard Region 4 Command discovered and inspected a fishing vessel BTh 97222 TS with suspicious signs. The vessel was captained by Mr. Doan Hai Van, born in 1967, residing in My Tho ward (Dong Thap province).
Through initial inspection, Mr. Van admitted that ship BTh 97222 TS was transporting about 30,000 liters of DO oil without documents proving the legal origin of the goods.
On August 25, in the Southwest sea, the functional forces of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command discovered and inspected the fishing boat TG 91139 TS with suspicious signs. The boat was captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, born in 1971, with an address in Rach Gia ward (An Giang province), with 5 crew members on board.
At the time of inspection, Mr. Cuong confessed that fishing vessel TG 91139 TS was transporting about 50,000 liters of DO oil without documents proving the legal origin of the goods.
The Command of Coast Guard Region 4 has drawn up a record of the temporary detention of 3 fishing boats, sealed the goods and organized the escort to the unit's ports in An Giang and Ca Mau for further investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.
