The fishermen's solid support
Participating in the program "CSB accompanies fishermen" in 2025, jointly organized by the Command of CSB Region 2 and the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee on Cu Lao Xanh Island (Nhon Chau Commune, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province), we saw many meaningful and practical activities taking place. In order to support and encourage children of fishermen's families in difficult circumstances, CSB Region 2 organized the contest "I love the sea and islands of my homeland", combined with awarding 50 scholarships and 15 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances who strive to excel in their studies. CSB Region 2 also awarded 60 gifts and 500 national flags to fishermen. Within the framework of the program, the medical staff of CSB Region 2 and the medical staff of Nhon Chau Medical Station (Nhon Chau Commune) also coordinated to organize medical examinations, health consultations, and provide free medicine to nearly 200 people on the island. Colonel Le Huy, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 2, said: "Although the gifts are not large in material terms, they demonstrate the affection, heart and responsibility of Coast Guard officers and soldiers towards fishermen, aiming to promptly encourage and support them to reduce difficulties, gradually stabilize their lives, and add motivation to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea."

In recent times, CSB Region 2 has not only accompanied fishermen in island communes, island districts, and coastal localities, but also organized many social security activities, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and gratitude policies in remote, mountainous areas in the area. From the beginning of 2019 to now, CSB Region 2 has coordinated to organize 25 programs "CSB accompanies fishermen", 3 programs "Island Tet", 10 mass mobilization campaigns "CSB with ethnic and religious compatriots"... combined with giving 11,950 gifts to policy families, fishermen's families, poor households, and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances; giving 890 scholarships, 447 bicycles to students in difficult circumstances... with a total amount of more than 15 billion VND.
Assessing the effectiveness of the program "CSB accompanies fishermen", comrade Nguyen Thi Bich Ly, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee said: "The practical and meaningful work of officers and soldiers of CSB Region 2 in the past time has helped fishermen promptly overcome difficulties, go offshore, stick to the sea, promote the seafood exploitation industry in accordance with regulations and laws to develop a strong and sustainable Vietnamese marine economy . Officers and soldiers of CSB Region 2 have left good feelings and impressions about the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Vietnamese CSB soldiers" in the hearts of the people of the Central coastal region.
Improving legal knowledge to help fishermen
In the program "CSB accompanies fishermen" in 2025 in Nhon Chau island commune, officers of CSB Region 2 distributed leaflets, propagated and disseminated knowledge about the sea and islands; CSB Law; regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; Party and State policies to encourage and motivate people to settle down on the island, actively stick to fishing grounds to exploit seafood...
After receiving some knowledge about the sea and islands from the propaganda team of Coast Guard Region 2, fisherman Phan Thanh Nhan (residing in Dong village, Nhon Chau commune) shared: "The information disseminated by Coast Guard Region 2 officers is very useful, helping us understand the legal regulations when exploiting seafood at sea to fully comply, not only ensuring safety and income but also increasing the economic value of our country's seafood products".

To make the propaganda and dissemination of legaleducation practical and effective, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command and its affiliated agencies and units have conducted it flexibly, diversely, and appropriately for each target group, such as: Direct propaganda through the activities of the reporting team; organizing working groups and teams to distribute leaflets, brochures, hand out national flags, give gifts, and encourage fishermen at ports and wharves; combining propaganda, information exchange, and support of fresh water, food, provisions, and fuel for fishermen through ships on patrol, inspection, and control missions at sea; organizing the "I love the sea and islands of my homeland" contest at secondary schools in coastal provinces and cities...
With the motto of "active, proactive, widely propagandizing, closely coordinating, grasping the situation, handling promptly, safely, effectively, in accordance with the law, maintaining stability in the border waters", the leaders of the Region direct and assign specific tasks to each ship before departing to carry out the mission. The organization strictly maintains the on-duty system, strengthens research, analysis, grasps the situation, tasks, countermeasures and measures to handle situations during the implementation of patrol, inspection, control, and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in the assigned sea areas.

Since the beginning of 2019, Coast Guard Region 2 has coordinated with local Party committees and authorities to disseminate legal knowledge to nearly 17,000 cadres, fishermen, people and students; distributed more than 49,500 leaflets and brochures; 18,700 handbooks of Vietnam Coast Guard Law, 500 handbooks of propaganda and dissemination of laws on seas and islands and presented 55,000 national flags... to localities and fishing boats fishing in the waters under the management of the unit.
Talking to us about the issue of accompanying fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Dung, Deputy Chief of Politics of Coast Guard Region 2 affirmed: “The presence of fishermen on the seas of the Fatherland is not simply about exploiting and catching seafood, but the image of the ship with the fluttering national flag is also a symbol of will, determination, solidarity and resilience. They are the “living milestones” that contribute to preserving and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
