During the patrol, the border guards not only ensure security and order at sea but also distribute leaflets and disseminate legal regulations to ship owners, captains and fishermen. At the same time, they provide guidance on recording, submitting fishing logs, and maintaining voyage monitoring equipment for fishing vessels 15m or longer in length. On this occasion, the unit also presented the national flag, encouraging fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea, contributing to protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
Border Guard Squadron 2 (Border Guard of Ca Mau province) launched a peak campaign to prevent and combat IUU fishing. |
Previously, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su signed and issued Plan No. 049/KH-UBND on the peak of combating IUU fishing. The plan clearly stated: The province will mobilize forces to strengthen inspection and supervision of fisheries; organize signing of commitments not to violate; digitize records of high-risk vessels; strictly handle violations; tighten control at private fishing ports, river mouths, and islands - places where there are often signs of avoiding inspection.
The peak period aims to tighten fisheries management, complete registration and inspection of fishing vessels, thoroughly handle IUU violations, thereby contributing to removing the "yellow card" warning of the European Commission (EC) in the 5th inspection scheduled to take place in September 2025.
