Local rescuers have recovered 12 bodies and rescued six others who were injured.

Earlier on July 27, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China raised the emergency response level from level 4 to level 3 in Hunan Province to prepare for Typhoon Gaemi. The National Meteorological Center also issued an orange rainstorm alert in Hunan, which is expected to see heavy rain until July 29.

China has a four-tier emergency response system for flood control, with level 1 being the strongest. The weather warning system also includes four levels, which are color-coded, with red being the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

The injured were taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Over 240 rescue workers at all levels arrived at the scene to carry out emergency rescue operations. Earlier, initial information confirmed that 6 people were killed.
