Vietlott reported a profit of over 244 billion VND in the first half of this year.
Specifically, Vietlott's 2025 semi-annual financial report recorded taxable revenue from lottery of VND4,565 billion, an increase of more than 12% over the same period. Pre-tax profit reached VND244.4 billion, an increase of nearly 16% over the same period.
Breaking down the revenue structure, the biggest contribution still comes from the matrix lottery product, with more than VND 2,568 billion, an increase of more than 4%.
Next, the quick-draw lottery contributed 1,755 billion VND, up 25% and the series lottery reached 242 billion VND, up 16.4%.
If calculating total revenue excluding tax, Vietlott's report recorded the figure of 3,600 billion VND, an increase of more than 10% compared to the first half of 2024.
In addition to net revenue, Vietlott also recorded other sources of income from bank interest. With more than VND 1,900 billion deposited in the bank (as of the end of June 2025), Vietlott received nearly VND 29 billion in deposit interest, an increase of 6% over the same period.
In contrast, in terms of expenses, Vietlott spent nearly VND2,500 billion to pay prizes to players, an increase of 11% over the same period.
425 billion VND for agent commission
In addition to the prize money paid and accounted for in the cost of capital, Vietlott's 2025 semi-annual financial report also recorded the item "Prize winnings to be paid" worth 453.7 billion VND. This is roughly understood as the amount corresponding to the prizes that have been won but the recipients have not completed the procedures to receive the prize.
In addition, this computerized lottery company also spent 425 billion VND on agent commissions and nearly 300 billion VND on lottery business costs.
Although the report shows the prize payout of thousands of billions of dong, because most customers wear masks to receive their prizes, Vietlott has encountered many "half-crying, half-laughing" situations.
For example, in early June, Vietlott organized a prize award ceremony for one of the two players who won the Jackpot Mega 6/45 draw 01351. Accordingly, Mr. NXH (in Tay Ho district, Hanoi - confirmed to be an elderly man in his 80s) won 39.11 billion VND.
However, after the photo of Mr. NXH covering his face to receive the prize was published by Vietlott, many opinions from readers and social networks raised questions when they felt that the person in the photo looked much younger than his age of U80. Comments such as "the old man is so young", "looks like a young man", or "20 years younger than retirement age"... sparked a heated debate.
The leader of this lottery company then spoke up to confirm that, after checking the lottery business data system and personal records, it was determined that Mr. NXH was one of the two winners.
According to records, the prize payment costs of both Vietlott and traditional lottery companies are around more than 50% of total revenue, without much difference.
However, Vietlott follows the "computer lottery" model, which is more flexible in choosing numbers and has high cumulative prizes, thus creating a strong media effect. Meanwhile, traditional lottery relies on pre-printed tickets with fixed prizes.
