Vietjet orders 20 wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft to serve international flight expansion plan

Vietjet, Vietnam's largest private airline, has just placed a new order with Airbus for 20 A330-900 wide-body aircraft, serving the airline's new development plan in the next decade.

The agreement was signed by Vietjet Chairman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Airbus International Chairman Wouter van Wersch in Hanoi, witnessed by Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron during the French Head of State's visit to Vietnam.

This long-term order will support Vietjet’s ongoing international expansion plans, allowing the airline to add flights on high-demand routes across the Asia- Pacific region, as well as launch new long-haul routes to Europe in the future.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch signed an agreement to purchase 20 A330-900 (A330neo) wide-body aircraft in the presence ofPresident Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: "Modern Airbus aircraft with advanced performance and fuel efficiency have accompanied Vietjet's development and will help us expand our flight network. We are committed to long-term investment in a modern fleet, contributing to promoting economic and technological relations between the two countries. Vietjet will continue to pioneer in bringing green and sustainable quality flight opportunities to millions of people in Vietnam and around the world."

“Vietjet has established itself as one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, offering affordable fares with the warm hospitality that is typical of Vietnam,” said Mr. Wouter van Wersch, President of Airbus International. “We are proud that the airline has chosen the A330neo as the widebody aircraft to continue its successful journey, and we are honored to continue to accompany Vietjet in its further expansion.”

The new contract with Vietjet will double its firm order for the A330neo family to 40 aircraft. The airline also has an order for 96 single-aisle A320neo aircraft. Currently, Vietjet operates an all-Airbus fleet of 115 aircraft, including 108 A320 family aircraft and 7 A330-300 aircraft.

Powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 is capable of flying non-stop for up to 13,300 km. The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin, offering passengers a unique flying experience with enhanced comfort, space and design, with larger personal areas, expanded overhead bins, new lighting and the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

New contract between Vietjet and Airbus doubles the firm's A330neo order to 40 aircraft

As of the end of April 2025, the A330 Family had more than 1,800 confirmed orders from more than 130 customers worldwide. Like all aircraft in production, the A330neo can operate on a blend of up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with a target to increase to 100% SAF capability by 2030.

Vietjet currently operates international flights to Australia, India, Kazakhstan with wide-body A330 aircraft, providing customers with more convenient flight options, especially Business Class seats with fresh, delicious cuisine, served by a professional, cheerful, and youthful crew. The wide-body A330 aircraft will continue to help Vietjet conquer further destinations and meet all the needs of people and tourists.
