August has passed, giving way to the first days of September, and then the whole country joins in the beat of a sacred holiday: National Day September 2 - the Independence Day of the nation. It is not only a great historical milestone, but also a great festival, where millions of hearts beat together, arousing pride, self-respect and undying love for the Fatherland.

These days, from bustling cities to peaceful villages, everywhere is filled with red flags with yellow stars. The streets are brightly lit with LED screens, banners, slogans, and fluttering flags as an affirmation of the eternal vitality of the Vietnamese people. On every street, streams of people flock to the historic Ba Dinh Square, where an important event takes place: the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Regardless of age or social class, from young to old, male and female, everyone wore bright yellow shirts, holding the national flag, their eyes shining with national pride. There were old men with white hair, walking slowly but with radiant faces and gentle smiles when living in a historical atmosphere. There were children jumping around in their parents' arms, their sparkling eyes following each heroic army passing by. There were young men and women in their twenties, full of vitality, cheering and shouting "Vietnam! Vietnam!" as the Air Force squadrons flew over the sky of the thousand-year-old capital.

In that crowded sea of people, the veterans - those who have gone through the war, witnessed many losses and sacrifices - are respected by the people and the younger generation, giving up their seats so that they can sit closer, see more clearly every step of the parade formation. That small but warm action is a silent gratitude, a message from today's generation to the previous generation: "We always remember and are grateful for your sacrifices" .

The atmosphere of Independence Day this year becomes even more special when the Government gives each citizen a support package to celebrate Independence Day joyfully and fully. Those bills not only have material value, but also the sentiments and care of the Party and State sent to the people, so that everyone can join in the great joy of the nation.

Along with that, the image of soldiers carrying bottles of cool water, loaves of bread, packages of dry food, and cakes to hand out to people while waiting to watch the parade became a touching moment. Those simple but loving gestures further clarified the blood relationship between the army and the people, just as Uncle Ho once advised: "The army and the people are like fish and water".

In the stream of people pouring into Ba Dinh, there were families from other provinces, staying up all night to be there early in the morning. There were old men and women sitting in wheelchairs, being led by their children and grandchildren to the Square just to witness the heroic army marching through the stage. They waited not only to watch a ceremony, but also to live in the heroic, sacred atmosphere of the whole nation, so that their hearts would once again resonate with the proud song: "Vietnam - Independence - Freedom".

The moment the military marching music sounded, each group of soldiers marched bravely past the stage, the red flag with yellow star fluttered proudly in the early morning sun, the whole square seemed to burst into emotion. People stood up, waved the flag, cheered loudly in tears of happiness. Those were tears of pride, of gratitude and appreciation for the generations who had fallen in exchange for today's peace .

September 2 is not only a commemorative day, but also a reminder for every Vietnamese citizen of their responsibility to the Fatherland. Living in peace today, we must preserve, cherish and continue the tradition. Patriotism is not something far away, but exists in the way we live compassionately, knowing how to share, unite and be of one mind, as the Russian writer Ilya Ehrenburg once wrote : "Streams flow into rivers, rivers flow into the great Volga River, the Volga River flows into the sea. Love for home, love for the village, love for the countryside becomes love for the Fatherland" . From simple actions - giving up seats for the elderly, caring for war invalids, helping the disadvantaged, to great efforts in working, studying and contributing, all contribute to the strength of Vietnam.

Eight decades have passed since Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square. Today, Vietnam has grown strongly, becoming a country of innovation, dynamism and aspiration. We have the right to be proud of a heroic and indomitable nation; we have the right to believe in the bright future of the country and above all, we have the responsibility to keep the flame of patriotism burning forever in the hearts of every Vietnamese person.

If I had a choice, I would still wish to be Vietnamese - to blend in with the crowd on National Day, to hold the national flag in my hand, to call the two words "homeland" with all the love and national pride.

On all the roads today, in the hearts of millions of people, the flame of patriotism is burning, spreading, and then blending together into an endless harmony - a harmony of national pride, of the spirit of independence, freedom, of a Vietnam that shines forever.
