Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated that foreign research and survey activities in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf - established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) - without Vietnam's permission violate Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction.

Vietnamese authorities always closely follow developments in the East Sea and implement measures in accordance with international and Vietnamese law. These actions aim to ensure Vietnam's legitimate rights and interests.
