Summer is the time when many businesses, restaurants, cafes... increase the recruitment of seasonal workers to boost production and business activities. This is also an opportunity for students to try their hand in a real working environment, gain more experience and earn more income.
Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet, owner of One tea milk tea shop, Dong Da ward (Vinh Yen) said: "In the summer, the number of customers increases by about 30% compared to other times of the year.
Weekends are double the number of days, so the restaurant has to hire more seasonal staff so as not to affect business operations. Currently, the restaurant needs to recruit 2-3 more workers to work in shifts, mainly from 10am to 3pm and 6pm to 10pm. This time frame is very suitable for students because they can both study and work.
This summer, Nguyen Huyen My, a student at Vinh Phuc College of Technology, did not return to her hometown but stayed in Vinh Yen to find a part-time job. With her main job being to guide and serve customers when they come to watch movies, Huyen My's income per hour ranges from 22,000 - 25,000 VND.
Huyen My shared: “During the summer break, I took advantage of the opportunity to apply for a job to earn extra income to help my parents and cover my personal expenses. This is also an opportunity for me to approach and learn about the service industry, helping me improve my communication and behavioral skills at work.”
Not only restaurants and cafes have high recruitment needs, many businesses and factories also have the need to recruit more seasonal workers, mainly focusing on the student group. According to some employers, this is a group of workers with free time during the summer, wanting to take advantage of this time to earn extra income, gain experience or simply to test themselves in a real working environment.
In addition, seasonal workers are often paid by the hour, day or number of completed products, so the cost of hiring labor will be lower than that of permanent employees.
Since the end of May, Compal Vietnam Co., Ltd., Binh Xuyen Industrial Park has continuously posted recruitment notices for seasonal workers in warehouse positions, component assembly... that do not require much in terms of health, skills, or work experience, with an income of 7 - 8 million VND/month.
Ms. Pham Thi Thoi, representative of the Human Resources Department of Compal Vietnam Co., Ltd. said: “Many seasonal jobs at the company are quite attractive, do not require skills or expertise, so they are suitable for many people, especially students.
To ensure the rights of employees, the company creates favorable conditions and flexibility in working hours during the day; they enjoy the same benefits and allowances as official employees. In addition, during the current peak production period, the company also has overtime and calculates a separate coefficient for night shift workers from 300 - 400 thousand VND/day.
The vibrant seasonal labor market has been providing many opportunities and job positions for workers in various fields and professions. For students, in addition to income, seasonal work is also an opportunity to help them gain experience with real life, accumulate knowledge, and support their studies and training.
However, with the current high demand for jobs, workers need to be cautious with some attractive advertisements of “easy work, high salary” on social networks; especially those requiring deposits and partial initial fees. For students under 18 years old, parents need to carefully research the environment and nature of the work before letting their children work to ensure their safety.
