The Para Bowling Club officially opened in early June, marking a new step forward in developing sports for people with disabilities in Vietnam. Although it is a relatively new sport, bowling has helped people with disabilities demonstrate their abilities in a short time.

Ms. Quach My Anh - Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Disabled Community said that in Vietnam, sports for disabled people are still limited. She is very happy that the Para Bowling Club is in operation.
"Now that there is this sport for the disabled, I am very happy. To the point that I think there cannot be any sport of such high level for the disabled to participate in and practice," Ms. My Anh expressed.
What is special is that this sport not only trains the strength and flexibility of the hands but also contributes to improving the ability to concentrate. For children with Down syndrome or intellectual problems, tracking the path of the ball and the collapse of the pins brings great joy when reaching the goal, while also helping to enhance the ability to concentrate.
“I learned about the Bowling Club from the Vietnam Disabled Sports Community. When I played this sport, I realized that I needed to aim accurately and have a strong right hand. I was very happy and excited, and I really like this sport," said Trinh Vo Bao Khanh, a member of the Para Bowling Club. Bao Khanh is 22 years old and has had a developmental delay since childhood. Khanh has been participating in the Bowling Club for nearly a month now and feels his health and spirit have improved positively.
Although bowling is considered accessible, for people with disabilities, there are still unique challenges to overcome.
Having polio at the age of 2, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Danh (55 years old, living in Thu Duc) spent her childhood years in a shelter, and currently her job is selling lottery tickets. She confided that she now only sells lottery tickets in the evenings, and spends her mornings participating in the Para Bowling Club. "Everyone has different circumstances, but they all have the same goal of coming here to play, first for health, second for spiritual food. After selling lottery tickets, I was able to come here to play and it was very fun. That is what attracted me to love this sport," Ms. Danh confided.
The main motivation for establishing the Para Bowling Club was to create a healthy and useful playground for people with disabilities. Currently, the club attracts about 35 members, including those with Down syndrome, autism and people with mobility disabilities, who meet regularly at noon from Monday to Thursday every week.
For people with disabilities, sport is not just a physical activity but also a powerful means to help them overcome their complexes, integrate into society and regain their confidence. Sport has the power to lift the spirit, helping people face and overcome difficulties in life. It can change a person, bring passion and belief.
The emergence of sports venues such as the Bowling Club for the disabled is a positive sign that society is increasingly paying attention and creating conditions for everyone. Places like this become an open "door", providing opportunities for communication, connection and sharing, helping both the disabled and their families reduce psychological burdens and confidently step out into the outside world .
Coach Pham Quoc Bao Ky - In charge of instruction at the Para Bowling Club said that the purpose of opening this club is to create a playground for people with disabilities, this is also the premise for him to find excellent athletes for the bowling team of Ho Chi Minh City or the country to participate in international Para Bowling competitions.
Families with such a child feel very self-conscious and don't dare to go out into society. But this is like an open door for children and parents to come to us to have a playground to interact, this is very meaningful.
Ms. My Anh affirmed that it is thanks to sports that disabled people can regain their spirit and strive to overcome themselves in life.
Currently, the Para Bowling Club is operating at the Mega Bowl Center every Monday to Thursday from 12:00 to 14:00 and is completely free for people with disabilities.
