Van Quyet came off the bench in the friendly match between Vietnam and India. The score was 1-1 and Quyet's presence helped Vietnam play better. Unfortunately, the "Golden Stars" could not score more goals and had to share the points.

Sharing with the media after the match, Van Quyet felt sorry when the Vietnam team was held to a draw, he said: "I really wanted to score when I returned to the team, but it would have been better if I had created opportunities for my teammates in a more favorable position. The Vietnam team missed many opportunities in this match."

When asked about his upcoming plans, Van Quyet shared: “Van Quyet wants to participate in major tournaments with the national team because his spirit and determination are still high, but his physical condition is not yet up to par. Quyet hopes that this will be his last time wearing the national team jersey. Quyet will say goodbye to the national team. Quyet hopes that the team will be better and will achieve good results in the future.”

Speaking more clearly about the reason for leaving the national team, Van Quyet said: "Quyet wants to play, but I think now is the time for young players, Quyet will always accompany Vietnamese football in any position. I have played for the past 19 years, from the U-team to the national team, I hope the team will grow stronger."

Van Quyet first joined the national team in 2011. After 13 years wearing the Vietnamese national team jersey, he scored 16 goals in 58 appearances in all competitions. During his career, Quyet won the AFF Cup 2018.
