From early morning, thousands of people in their best clothes joined the crowd pouring into the stadium of Giang B village. The bright red of the national flag, banners, slogans, mixed with the bright traditional clothes of the ethnic people made the atmosphere even more bustling and joyful.
Ms. Sung Thi Cong, a Mong woman in Ban Moi village, excitedly shared: “National Day September 2 is always a special and sacred day for our people. This year, the commune organized many fun activities, including tug of war, top-up fighting, pao throwing, making sticky rice cakes, etc., so people are very excited.”

Today, Ms. Cong not only participated in the rice cake pounding competition but also, along with the women’s association members in the village, sold local products at the Suoi Giang highland market. The products that the women brought to the market were baskets of Shan Tuyet tea, batches of wild honey, and some hand-embroidered brocades… both to promote the beauty of their homeland and to generate additional income for their family.
“I am happy that my team won first prize in the rice cake pounding competition. The competition contributed to making the holiday more exciting, and everyone who came felt the hospitality of Van Chan people,” Ms. Cong added.

Meanwhile, Song A Phong, from Tap Lang village, was busy running cross-country with his youth team. Sweat was beading on his forehead, but his eyes were filled with excitement: “We compete not only to win prizes but more importantly to demonstrate solidarity and improve our health. Running under the red flag with a yellow star, I feel full of pride and excitement.”
Mr. Vang A Ha - Head of Pang Cang village said: "In the past few days, villagers have been cleaning and decorating the village roads and alleys together, the national flag has been hung everywhere on every house, residential group, headquarters, village roads, alleys, streets... Families in the village also gather to cook meals together to strengthen the village and neighborhood ties. The whole village considers this an opportunity to have fun and for children to understand more about the great significance of National Day."
Present at Suoi Giang, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao’s family in Hanoi was very happy to witness and participate in the folk games of the local people. Ms. Thao shared: “It is truly fortunate and meaningful that our family’s holiday was able to immerse itself in the solemn atmosphere of the flag-raising ceremony; experience the vibrant life with the activities of the ceremony, as well as participate in the cross-country race with the locals.”

According to the Plan of the People's Committee of Van Chan commune, the series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2nd this year will be organized on a large scale and in a variety of ways. All residents and visitors coming here will be able to participate in experiencing activities from men's football tournament, tug of war, top-kicking, pao throwing, making rice cakes, to OCOP booths, Suoi Giang highland market, Mong flute dancing, beeswax painting on fabric... and also folk games and activities that both remind of tradition and create tourist attraction.

Hundreds of children in red flags with yellow stars frolicked on the field, cheering and participating in the welcoming performances. The clear singing, the lively xoè dance mixed with the cheers made the festival atmosphere like a vivid picture, connecting generations.
Vang Thi Dung, a 9th grade student at Suoi Giang Primary and Secondary School, proudly shared: "I am very happy and proud to participate in the performance at today's ceremony."
Comrade Nguyen Huu Luc - Chairman of Van Chan Commune People's Committee emphasized: "We determined that organizing activities to celebrate National Day September 2 is not only an occasion to review revolutionary traditions but also an opportunity to promote the image and tourism products, especially the Suoi Giang tea brand. More than 2,000 people attending today is a testament to the spirit of solidarity and strong response of the entire population".
It is known that to prepare for this event, the commune has mobilized the participation of all villages, organizations, businesses and schools. Therefore, the work of ensuring security, environmental sanitation, food safety, and electricity grid are all carefully prepared so that the festival takes place safely and civilly.
“We hope that through these activities, tourists will know that Van Chan is not only famous for Shan Tuyet tea, Thang Co, and brocade, but also a hospitable land rich in identity,” added Comrade Nguyen Huu Luc.

Coming to Van Chan these days, we can see that Van Chan people today not only have fun and exercise, but also express their love for their homeland and country in every activity. Every smile, every cheer, every step of theirs contributes to lighting up the flame of national pride in the national festival.
As Ms. Giàng Thị Mò, a resident of Pang Cáng village, said: “This year’s National Day will be a beautiful memory not only for me but also for the villagers. Everyone is excited and believes that after the merger, Van Chan will become stronger, more innovative and more beautiful.”
National Day September 2nd, therefore, is not only the nation's Independence Day, but in Van Chan, it is also a festival of joy, solidarity and belief in the aspiration to rise up.
