Vietnam U20 women's team officially won ticket to Asian tournament

The 3-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan's U20 women's team on the evening of August 10 helped the Vietnam U20 women's team win a ticket straight to the group stage of the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship.

After 2 wins against Singapore U20 Women and Hong Kong U20 Women, Vietnam U20 Women only need 1 point against Kyrgyzstan U20 Women in the last round of the group to be sure to pass the qualifying round. However, coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team did not enter the match with the idea of ​​drawing when playing against the Central Asian representative.

In the 2nd minute, captain Luu Hoang Van had a dangerous long-range shot into the left corner of the goal, causing the Kyrgyzstan U20 women's goalkeeper to fly helplessly, opening the score for the Vietnam U20 women's team.

After taking the lead, the U20 women's team of Vietnam maintained their attacking style, not allowing their opponents to advance past half of the field. The home team scored another goal to increase the gap in the 28th minute, when Luu Hoang Van passed the ball to Dao Khanh Vy who ran down and shot from a narrow angle, raising the score to 2-0.

With 9 absolute points after 3 matches, the Vietnam U20 women's team leads Group B of the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers and wins a ticket to the final round taking place in Thailand in April next year.

In the qualifying round, Vietnam U20 women's team is the host of Group B, taking place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (VYF). In other groups, North Korea U20 women's team and Japan U20 women's team lead the group with 36 and 32 goals respectively. Australia U20 women's team scored 17 goals, while Uzbekistan U20 women's team scored 16 goals.
