Vietnam U20 women enter Asian finals with impressive achievements

(NLDO) - Closing the 2026 Asian U20 Women's Qualifiers, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team won all matches and scored 14 goals to win a ticket to the Finals as the top team in Group B.

On the evening of August 10, the Vietnam U20 women's team won 3-0 against Kyrgyzstan to end the qualifying round as the top team in Group B, winning the right to go straight to the final round of the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship.

Before the match, a draw was enough to advance, but coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team still entered the match with an active attacking style. In the second minute, captain Luu Hoang Van unleashed a dangerous long-range shot to open the scoring and break the deadlock.

After the break, the U20 women's team of Vietnam continued to control the game, minimizing the opponent's attacks. In the 74th minute, Khanh Vy completed her double with an accurate header from a corner kick, sealing the 3-0 victory.

This victory helped the U20 women's team of Vietnam close the qualifying round with an unbeaten record, with 3 wins, scoring 14 goals and conceding no goals. However, the number of goals scored by the U20 women of Vietnam is still quite modest compared to other groups such as the U20 women of North Korea (36 goals), Japan (32 goals), Australia (17 goals) or Uzbekistan (16 goals).

Winning all the qualifying rounds against U20 women's team Singapore, Hong Kong (China) and Kyrgyzstan, host Vietnam leads Group B. The team won a ticket to the Asian finals held in Thailand in April 2026.
