Vietnam U18 will participate in the Seoul Cup taking place in October. Young players will have the opportunity to compete with opponents from different regions. Vietnam U18's opponents are host U18 Korea, U18 Ukraine and U18 Morocco.
Vietnam U18's participation in the Seoul Cup is part of a cooperation program between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Korea Football Association (KFA). Coach Park Hang Seo is the ambassador of this tournament.

"In the coming time, the Vietnam Football Federation and the Korean Football Federation will continue to have specific and effective development programs, helping Vietnamese football develop stably and sustainably. This is one of the activities to promote football through diplomatic efforts, increasingly fostering the friendship between Vietnam and Korea," said VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan.
Also in October, the Vietnamese team will play a friendly match away to South Korea. This is the first time the Korean Football Association (KFA) has sent an invitation to the VFF to organize an international friendly match between the two national teams. Coach Philippe Troussier and his players will also train in South Korea during the FIFA international match series.
The last time the two national teams met was in 2004. In history, the two teams have only met 6 times. The Vietnamese team beat the Korean team in the 2004 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The friendly match between Vietnam and South Korea in October is also an important practice match for the two teams before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Vietnam is in Group F with Iraq, the Philippines and the winner of the match between Indonesia and Brunei. This group is similar to the second qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup. At that time, Vietnam was in the same group with a representative from West Asia (UAE) and Southeast Asian teams (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia).
