At the invitation of President of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) Tulia Ackson, Secretary General of the IPU Martin Chungong, President of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco Rachid Talbi Alami and President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal El Malick Ndiaye, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, together with his wife and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, attended the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Switzerland; conducted bilateral activities in Switzerland; paid official visits to Morocco and Senegal from July 22 to 30, 2025.
On this occasion, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs Don Tuan Phong gave an interview to the press; informed about the purpose and significance of the Conference and emphasized the spirit of promoting cooperative measures for peace, stability and sustainable development around the world.
According to Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs Don Tuan Phong, the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is an important event of parliamentary diplomacy.
The conference was held in Geneva, Switzerland with the participation of parliaments from nearly 120 countries, including nearly 100 Speakers of Parliaments and National Assemblies. This demonstrates the importance and concern of parliaments of countries for the world situation as well as the need to cooperate and work together to solve the difficulties and challenges of the world today.
This conference has the theme: "A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all people."
"In the current world context, this is a very topical topic and shows the concern of the world in general and parliaments of countries in particular," Deputy Chairman Don Tuan Phong emphasized.
The Vietnamese National Assembly delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will attend this Conference.
Deputy Chairman Don Tuan Phong said that the delegation's activities will be very exciting. The National Assembly Chairman will speak at the Plenary Session and hold bilateral meetings with the President and Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Speakers of Parliaments and National Assembly Chairmen of many countries...; thereby promoting bilateral relations in all areas, including parliamentary cooperation.
The National Assembly Chairman’s speech at the plenary session is expected to convey a message about Vietnam’s guidelines and policies, especially the policy of cooperation for peace and sustainable development around the world. In addition, representatives of the Vietnamese delegation will also participate in speaking at a number of thematic discussion sessions.

The messages are expected to be diverse, focusing on assessing the current world situation and the need to promote multilateral cooperation. In particular, parliaments of countries, as representatives of the people, the voice of the aspirations of voters and people, must join hands to promote cooperation measures for peace, stability and sustainable development around the world.
"In the complex world situation, as the Conference's theme states, the need for such cooperation is increasing. It is expected that the National Assembly Chairman will also propose measures, calling on parliaments of countries and the Inter-Parliamentary Union to join hands, promote international law to resolve disputes through peaceful measures, and address environmental challenges for sustainable development together," said Deputy Chairman Don Tuan Phong./.
