Posthumously promoted Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky who died saving a drowning person

On September 2, the Military Command of Song Cau town under the Military Command of Phu Yen province announced that the Minister of National Defense has decided to posthumously promote Major Truong Hong Ky, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Military Command of Song Cau town, to Lieutenant Colonel ahead of schedule.

Decision No. 88/QDT-BQT signed by General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense .

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky was the one who sacrificed himself after saving two local people from drowning.

Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky was born on September 2, 1981, in Xuan Thinh commune, Song Cau town, Phu Yen province, and enlisted in 2002.

At 4:30 p.m. on September 1, 2023, while inspecting the area, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky discovered two people being swept away by waves at Dong Be beach (in Vinh Hoa hamlet, Xuan Thinh commune, Song Cau town). He immediately swam out to save them.

After bringing two victims, Tran Pham Minh Thien (born in 2008) and Nguyen Pham Ngoc Tram (born in 1983) to shore, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky was exhausted and was swept away by the waves.

Representatives of Phu Yen Provincial Military Command came to offer condolences to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky.

Despite being helped to shore by local people and taken to Song Cau Town Medical Center for emergency treatment, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Hong Ky did not survive.
