U23 Malaysia beat U23 Brunei 7-1, U23 Indonesia won 3 hard-won points

After a 0-2 defeat to the Philippines 3 days ago, U23 Malaysia was under pressure to win when facing U23 Brunei. U23 Malaysia rushed forward to press the field and in the 3rd minute, they made the opponent's net shake when Syamer jumped high to head the ball, opening the score of the match.

Just one minute later, U23 Malaysia doubled the gap. Arshad passed the ball awkwardly, and Aiman from U23 Brunei, in an attempt to block it, unfortunately scored an own goal.

In the 32nd minute, Bin Rosli crossed the ball, Haizon finished accurately, raising the score to 3-0 for U23 Malaysia. Before the end of the first half, U23 Malaysia scored the 4th goal, Bin Rosli scored after a good pass with Syamer.

In the second half, U23 Malaysia continued to take the initiative and in the 69th minute, Hakimi scored to increase the score to 5-0. U23 Brunei had an honorary goal in the 74th minute when Syamra scored but that was the only shining moment of this team.

In the 76th minute, substitute Tierney increased the score to 6-1 for U23 Malaysia. Before the end of the match, Bin Rosli completed his double, sealing a 7-1 victory for U23 Malaysia. U23 Malaysia temporarily rose to 2nd place in Group A of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament and they will face host Indonesia in the final match on July 21.

The turning point of the match came in the 23rd minute, midfielder Darwis threw the ball from the left wing very hard into the U23 Philippines penalty area and center back Rosquillo awkwardly headed the ball back into his own net, helping U23 Indonesia lead 1-0.

U23 Philippines pushed up their formation to attack but they created too few chances. The home team continued to cause trouble from throw-ins, but the U23 Philippines defense played with full concentration.

In the second half, it rained heavily but U23 Indonesia still played enthusiastically, they created 3 chances in the first 10 minutes but the strikers finished too hastily. After that, the home team played defensive counter-attack and made the Philippines helpless in finding an equalizer.

Pragmatic play helped U23 Indonesia secure a 1-0 victory after 90 minutes. With 6 absolute points after two wins, U23 Indonesia is confident before the final match against U23 Malaysia on July 21 and a draw is enough to help them secure the top spot in Group A.
