On the morning of August 21, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (Pro Vietnam) and the Departmentof Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province launched a program to collect and recycle milk carton packaging at schools called "Environmental Guardians".

Mr. Nguyen Gia Huy Chuong - CEO of Pro Vietnam - said that in Vietnam, over the past 10 years, the speed of urbanization and consumption growth has led to an increase in both volume and type of domestic solid waste.

However, only about 10% of this is treated and recycled, the rest is mainly buried, burned or discharged into the environment.

Meanwhile, environmental protection is the mission of every individual and every organization, in which the role of teachers and schools in educating awareness and action for future generations is very important.

Pro Vietnam said that the collection and recycling of milk carton packaging at kindergartens and primary schools in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is carried out according to a circular model.

The alliance has 30 members, all of whom are leading companies in the fields of consumer goods, packaging manufacturing, retail, import and recycling.

In recent years, educational institutions in this province have minimized the use of disposable plastic products. This "Environmental Guardian" program is even more meaningful in changing behavior for everyone, especially the future preschool generation.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Chau - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province - called on teachers and students to classify waste at the source to be able to recycle packaging and milk cartons. At the same time, give up the habit of using hard-to-decompose plastic bags, switch to using reusable, environmentally friendly products.

At the launching ceremony, representatives of Pro Vietnam and two businesses signed a memorandum of cooperation to implement the above program.
