Viettel Group said that the center will focus on mastering the technologies for manufacturing strategic weapons, cruise engines, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remote sensing satellites, radars, etc. to create military equipment products that meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland. At the same time, the center will research and apply technologies on big data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, etc. to develop equipment, software, solutions, platforms, and services that meet the actual needs of the market and are in line with world technology trends.
With that scale and function, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony this morning, Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said that Viettel Research and Development Center will be an important nucleus in the Vietnamese science and technology ecosystem, both directly serving national defense needs and expanding applications to many fields of people's lives and the economy . This is not only Viettel's project, but also a common asset of the Vietnamese science and technology community.
Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh highly appreciated Viettel's strategic vision in building a new generation research center with full infrastructure for testing, trial production and an ecosystem to attract talent. This is in line with the orientation of the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation Development to 2030, vision 2045, which emphasizes the role of technology enterprises in applied research and commercialization of scientific results.
In the context of the world witnessing the rapid transformation of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, quantum technology, space technology, etc., the need for world-class research centers in Vietnam is increasingly evident. Viettel Research and Development Center is an important step for Vietnam to participate in shaping future technologies.
Emphasizing that the country's development is only sustainable when there is a close connection between basic research, applied research and production implementation, Professor, Academician Chau Van Minh hopes that the team of scientists of the Academy will, together with Viettel, other universities and research institutes, form a strong and cohesive national research and innovation network. The connection between the basic research force and the applied research force will create a combined strength, contributing to realizing the aspiration of making Vietnam a strong country in science, technology and innovation.
In addition to research and development, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Viettel are also responsible for advising the Government on strategies, planning, plans, policies, programs and important science and technology development projects. This is part of the functions and tasks assigned by the Party and the State, to ensure that all major national science and technology orientations are built on a solid scientific foundation and vivid practice.
At the same time, it is necessary to promote international cooperation and international integration, proactively participate in the global research network, connect with the world's leading scientific centers, and attract brainpower, knowledge and advanced technology.
Viettel Research and Development Center must become a destination for international scientists, and also a place for Vietnamese intelligence to reach out to the world, contributing to the common achievements of humanity.
