This low-Earth orbit experimental satellite is the world's first satellite using 6G network technology, and it was successfully launched on February 3 along with another satellite equipped with 5G technology from China Mobile.

The 6G test satellite carries a distributed autonomous architecture system dedicated to 6G. This system was jointly developed by China Mobile and the Micro-Satellite Innovation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences .

China Mobile said the system uses domestic software and hardware, supports on-orbit software reconstruction, flexible deployment of core network functions and automatic management, and improves the efficiency and reliability of on-orbit satellite core network operations.

Placed at an orbital altitude of about 500km, these experimental satellites offer many advantages such as low latency and high data transmission speeds compared to high-orbiting satellites at an altitude of 36,000km.

According to China Mobile, low-Earth orbit satellites are positioned as an important platform for future space-ground integrated networks. This type of satellite can solve the telecommunications signal coverage weaknesses of terrestrial mobile networks and provide high-bandwidth satellite internet services globally.

China Mobile added that it plans to conduct orbital experiments based on these test satellites, accelerating the integration and development of space-ground technology industries.
