At the 6G Innovation Development Forum, an event within the framework of the Zhongguancun Forum 2024 being held in Beijing from April 25 to 29, multiple telecommunications research institutes jointly released an ultra-massive MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) prototype verification system for 6G wireless networks, providing a technical basis for 6G applications.

Speaking at the forum, Huang Yuhong, executive vice president of Zhongguancun Pan Institute of Mobile Communications Technology Innovation and Application, said that research and development of various technologies related to 6G technology is currently underway. It is expected that 6G technology will be commercially deployed in 2030 in areas that meet the infrastructure conditions.

Ms. Yuhong noted that 6G technology will further improve the latency and connection stability of 5G networks. Data transmission speeds will be amplified dozens of times compared to 5G, and the number of connected terminals will also increase.

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, by the end of the first quarter of this year, China had built 3.65 million 5G base stations nationwide, becoming the world's largest and most advanced network infrastructure system.

On April 27, Chen Shanzhi, Deputy General Manager of China Information and Communications Technology Group, said that China's rapid and steady development from 3G to 5G has accumulated a lot of experience in industrialization of telecommunications technology. In addition, China's huge market, complete industrial chain and large-scale infrastructure provide a solid foundation for 6G development.

China's 6G progress will be in the key technology research and development stage before 2025, and testing will be conducted around 2029 before official commercialization, Chen added.

At the world's largest trade fair Hannover Messe in the German city of Hannover recently, technology experts said that 6G could become the foundation for the next industrial revolution, as it will solve the bandwidth limitations of existing infrastructure and allow large-scale networks to connect to a wide variety of devices.
