Exhibition "Journey following Uncle Ho's footsteps through stamp and postcard collections" at Ho Chi Minh City Museum.

On the morning of May 18, 2025, the opening ceremony of the thematic exhibition "Journey in Uncle Ho's footsteps through stamp and postcard collections" took place at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum. The exhibition is a practical activity to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025) and International Museum Day May 18, 2025.

Ms. Doan Thi Trang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Museum delivered the opening speech of the thematic exhibition.

President Ho Chi Minh, an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people, a great revolutionary, a beloved leader of the Vietnamese people and working class, and an outstanding international communist soldier. He devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation, fighting for peace and social progress around the world . The great legacy of President Ho Chi Minh is not only preserved in the memories and emotions of the Vietnamese people but also honored and spread through many different forms of art and media, in which stamps and postcards bring a very special perspective on him. Each stamp artifact concisely records important historical events and milestones, each postcard reflects memorable moments in his revolutionary life.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Doan Thi Trang said : “The exhibition “Journey in Uncle Ho’s footsteps through stamp and postcard collections” is held on International Museum Day and is also a milestone of the 135-year journey of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum building being built and officially completed and put into operation (1890 - 2025). In this space, with the theme of International Museum Day on May 18, 2025: “The future of museums in rapidly changing communities”, as a great driving force to show public awareness of the role of museums in promoting cultural exchange, social development and preserving human heritage with the motto: “Museums are cultural bridges, promoting understanding, cooperation and peace ”.

The exhibition introduces to the public 225 images, stamps and postcards, arranged into three main content sections:

Part 1 – Portrait of President Ho Chi Minh through the ages: Introducing the period from his childhood to the last years of his life. Including a collection of stamps commemorating President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday over the years, especially the stamp issued on May 19, 1960 – on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his birth.

Part 2 – Journey following Uncle Ho’s footsteps: Overview of his homeland, family, journey to find a way to save the country, and his career of founding the Party and leading the Vietnamese revolution in two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.

Part 3 – Uncle Ho in the hearts of the Vietnamese people and international friends: Displaying images of Uncle Ho closely associated with the people, especially the people of the South, with children, the people's police force and with Ho Chi Minh City - the city honored to bear his name. In addition, there are images of Uncle Ho introduced through stamps of some countries in the world such as Laos, Cambodia, Russia, Germany...

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City Museum also presented the logo and flowers to collector Nguyen Dai Hung Loc and collector Tran Van Bui, who contributed significantly to the success of the thematic exhibition " Journey following Uncle Ho's footsteps through stamp and postcard collections ", as well as accompanying the Museum in promoting and introducing the value of cultural heritage to the public.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and Ms. Doan Thi Trang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Museum presented the logo and flowers to collector Nguyen Dai Hung Loc and collector Tran Van Bui.

At the ceremony, musician Sa Huynh presented the song " Bamboo Lullaby Remembering Uncle Ho" to the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.
