proposal to establish Department of Transport and Public Works

Kinhtedothi - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs has submitted to the City People's Committee a plan to reorganize the administrative apparatus, specialized agencies and public service units, including some special units.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City will reduce the number of specialized agencies under the City People's Committee from 21 units to 16 units. Specifically: The Department of Home Affairs will be reorganized on the basis of merging the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, receiving the functions and tasks of State management of labor, wages, employment; meritorious people; occupational safety and hygiene; social insurance; gender equality from the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was established on the basis of merging the Religious Committee into the Ethnic Minorities Committee. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment was reorganized on the basis of merging the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Department of Food Safety is maintained according to the pilot model of Ho Chi Minh City, with a more streamlined organization according to Resolution 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly . The Department of Finance is merged from the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Finance and receives the Enterprise Management Innovation Board.

The Department of Science and Technology merged from the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Information and Communications. The Department of Construction merged from the Department of Construction and the Department of Planning and Architecture.

In particular, the Department of Traffic and Public Works was established from the Department of Transport, receiving the Standing Office of the Traffic Safety Committee and some infrastructure management functions from the Department of Construction.

In addition to the above Departments, the remaining units include: Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Tourism, Department of Health, Department of Education and Training, Department of Justice, Department of Industry and Trade, Office of the City People's Committee, City Inspectorate.
