Launching a free surgery program for disabled children

The Department of Health and Center II (Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children) will organize a free surgery program for disabled children in Lao Cai province in 2025.

It is expected that 160 disabled children will receive surgery and 42 children will be provided with assistive devices.

The program has the participation of surgical experts from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Central Eye Hospital, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Xanh Pon General Hospital, Center II and Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital.

Many children have been examined, counseled, and treated for various types of disabilities.

The free examination and surgery program for children with disabilities will take place at the Provincial General Hospital from June 16 to June 20. Families with children with disabilities who have not participated in the screening examination from March 23, 2025 to March 28, 2025 can take their children to local health stations for disability screening, then transfer them to the Provincial General Hospital for surgery or instruct the family to take their children directly to the Provincial General Hospital for examination and surgery.

Previously, Lao Cai Department of Health coordinated with doctors from Center II (Vietnam Association for the Relief of Disabled Children), Provincial General Hospital, and Rehabilitation Hospital to complete a screening campaign for 550 disabled children in the province. The program was sponsored by Thien Tam Fund and Vingroup Corporation.
