Knowledge of exploitation and processing of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest is an intangible heritage

(NLDO) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizes the knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Khanh Hoa Department of Culture - Sports informed that the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism has just issued a decision to announce the inclusion of folk knowledge, traditional handicrafts and knowledge of exploiting and processing Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest into the list of national intangible cultural heritage.

The profession of exploiting and processing bird's nests in Khanh Hoa has a history of nearly 700 years (1328 - 2024), closely associated with customs and beliefs in gratitude to the founder Le Van Dat, Holy Mother Le Thi Huyen Tram, and the predecessors who founded and developed the bird's nest profession and are preserved and practiced in today's life.

The worship ceremony is to honor and show gratitude to the Ancestors, the Holy Mother and the predecessors of the bird's nest industry, at Hon Noi Swallow Island.

This recognition affirms the important historical, cultural and economic value of the bird's nest industry for Khanh Hoa in particular and Vietnam in general, and at the same time creates a legal basis for generations to continue to preserve and promote this heritage.

This is also the premise for Khanh Hoa to build a dossier to recognize Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage in the coming time.

The successor of the ancestor was An Phu Su Binh Khang Le Van Quang, the 21st generation descendant of the ancestor Le Van Dat, and his daughter Le Thi Huyen Tram - Grand Admiral of the Tay Son Navy - took on the mission of protecting and developing the bird's nest islands.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company is a place that gathers generations of practitioners and transmits the heritage, and is also the unit that maintains and organizes the annual Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival, a typical cultural event honoring the value of the Vietnamese salanganes nest industry.

Currently, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company is managing 33 salanganes' nest islands with 173 salanganes' nest caves in Khanh Hoa sea, achieving the record for the largest number of salanganes' nest islands, the largest salanganes' nest output in Asia and Khanh Hoa salanganes' nest products achieving the Asian record as a specialty gift of Khanh Hoa.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest is the only state-owned enterprise producing and trading salanganes nests in the country to achieve the National Brand.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company produces natural salanganes nests from islands in the sea of Khanh Hoa.
