On the morning of February 2, at the conference to review the first semester and deploy key tasks for the second semester of the 2023-2024 school year for specialeducation organized by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City presented Tet Giap Thin 2024 gifts to 37 educational institutions including specialized schools and centers to support the development of inclusive education in the city. Each gift includes 10 million VND in cash and gifts worth 2 million VND.

Previously, at the summary of the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year, Deputy Head of the Primary Education Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training) Nguyen Minh Thien Hoang, said that currently, policies and regimes on social subsidies, financial support for caring for disabled students and allowances for teachers teaching disabled students to integrate into inclusive education are being implemented by schools in accordance with regulations.

Representatives of specialized schools and centers supporting the development of inclusive education received Tet gifts presented by the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

In particular, the acceptance of disabled students to study in general schools is increasingly expanding. The quality of student care and education is improved, and communication and counseling work is regularly carried out to help improve the effectiveness of mobilizing school-age children to go to school.

However, according to a report by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, specialized schools currently face difficulties in terms of facilities, lack of equipment and special teaching aids for children with disabilities, and small playground areas, which affects physical education activities for students.

In addition, the number of students per class is large, teachers do not have enough time to teach students individually. Most inclusive teachers have not received specialized professional training for each type of disability, so it is difficult to choose appropriate teaching methods.

In particular, many parents do not accept their children's disabilities, so they do not take their children to local authorities to determine the type of disability, affecting the development of individual education plans for students.

To overcome these difficulties, according to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Bao Quoc, general schools need to increase coordination and learn from experiences from centers supporting the development of inclusive education.

At the same time, in addition to the care and support of management agencies, educational institutions need to proactively implement the socialization policy to increase resources, thereby improving educational efficiency.
