(Dan Tri) - At this time, the year is almost over, but there are still many universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City that have not paid health insurance (HI) for students in 2024 at a very high rate.

Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance (SHI) has just published a list ofeducational institutions that have not fully registered for health insurance for students in 2024 in the city (data as of December 15).

According to this list, there are 13 schools that have not registered to participate in health insurance in 2024 for a large number of students. The highest rate is the College of Transport with 2,653 students but only 728 students participate in health insurance (accounting for 24.44%), while more than 75% of students have not participated.

Although Van Lang University has a fairly high student participation rate (80.62%), due to the large number of students (44,004 students), in terms of quantity, it is at the top of this list.

Specifically, the percentage of Van Lang University students who have not participated in health insurance is only over 19%, with a total of 8,526 people.

Some other schools have more than 1,000 students who have not participated in health insurance, such as Saigon University of Technology (2,779 students), Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment (1,460 students), Ho Chi Minh City College of Technology (1,196 students)...

The list of schools registering for health insurance for students is not complete (Source: Social Insurance of Ho Chi Minh City).

According to Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, based on the Law on Health Insurance No. 46/2014/QH13 and guiding documents, students studying at schools in the national education system are subject to compulsory health insurance.

On September 25, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also issued Official Dispatch No. 4749/UBND-VX requesting the Principals of Universities and vocational training institutions to promote the dissemination of health insurance policies and laws and organize the implementation of solutions to expand the health insurance coverage rate among students.

According to the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, schools must ensure that 100% of students participate in health insurance; 100% of students install and use digital social insurance - VssID; 100% of students have national population data synchronized.

However, as of December 15, some schools have not yet complied with the Law on Health Insurance and the direction of the City People's Committee.
