Thu Dau Mot City: For a greener and more civilized city

Continuing to promote the implementation of the project to improve the quality of the campaign "Building a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle" in the period of 2021-2025, in the past time, all levels, sectors and localities in Thu Dau Mot City have implemented many meaningful activities and programs. At the same time, the planting and care of trees has also been widely implemented, bringing practical effects in life, contributing to environmental protection, building a "Green - friendly city".

Practical activities

Promoting the achievements of the project to improve the quality of the campaign "Building a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle" associated with the campaign "Greening the city", the model "City without garbage" in the period of 2023-2025 in Thu Dau Mot City, in the past time, the Women's Union of Thu Dau Mot City has deployed and organized many meaningful activities. In addition to organizing propaganda activities, the Union also built models such as: "Thu Dau Mot Women take action 4T", "Garbage-free route", launching the Volunteer Team "For a city without garbage", the Team "Women propagating environmental protection", organizing a series of activities in response to World Environment Day, a recycling fashion contest, organizing booths to exchange waste for trees, booths displaying piggy banks, booths displaying recycled products... attracting a large number of members and women in the area to participate.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, President of the Women's Union of Thu Dau Mot City, said that up to now, the Women's Union at all levels in the city have registered with the Party Committee to implement 112 models on building a civilized and cultural urban lifestyle, such as: "Civilized and polite traders, business households, and business establishments"; "Women with smart and friendly alleys" model; "Safe - civilized - affectionate boarding houses"; "30 minutes of golden hours - to live green - clean - healthy"; "Painting propaganda pictures for women with rules of conduct in public places" at Nhan Ai flower garden; "Women's group propagandizing people to behave well when visiting Tan An communal house relic"; "Residential clusters participating in keeping the living streets clean"; "QR key chains for civilized garbage in residential areas"; "Women propagandizing and mobilizing to join hands to maintain urban order" model; "For a garbage-free ward" volunteer team...

For a green city

Implementing provincial and municipal programs and projects on "Building a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle" in Thu Dau Mot City, in the period of 2020-2024, the entire city has established and maintained 146 "Self-managed environmental protection" groups in 118 neighborhoods, with over 10,620 participating members.

According to the assessment of the leaders of Thu Dau Mot City, the implementation of this model in residential areas has contributed positively to gradually raising people's awareness of environmental protection and ensuring urban beauty in the area. Along with that, in the city, there are also 118 "Civilized - green - clean - beautiful" roads managed by the Front Work Committee that have been effectively maintained in the past time, contributing to creating a spacious, civilized - green - clean - beautiful appearance for the city.

One of the activities that has contributed positively to the construction of Thu Dau Mot city to become more civilized has been implemented recently and has received positive responses from all levels, sectors and local people, which is the urban greening campaign and the direction towards building a "Green - friendly city" in the period of 2024-2030 and the following years, with the motto "Each year, each person plants at least one more tree". The city aims to increase greening to create a green, clean and beautiful living environment in public areas, residential areas and other urban areas; at the same time, mobilize the response and active participation of all classes of people in the area to jointly achieve the common goal, which is to turn Thu Dau Mot city into a "Green - friendly city" and a place worth investing, living and working.

As a result, in 2024, the whole city planted 600,773/360,000 trees of all kinds (reaching 166.88% of the planned target), and nurtured 388,632/370,000 seedlings of all kinds (reaching 105.03% of the plan). In addition, sectors, organizations, and localities have mobilized socialization to implement 34 thematic tree gardens, with 38,783 trees. According to the plan, in 2025, Thu Dau Mot City plans to plant an additional 500,000 trees of all kinds, nurture 383,000 seedlings to ensure basic meeting of the number of trees needed to be planted in 2026.

The campaign to green Thu Dau Mot urban area towards building a "Green - Friendly City" in the period of 2024-2030 and the following years has been creating a strong effect, spreading throughout society. From the local launch, many individuals, organizations, units, religious organizations... have volunteered to support seedlings, plant more trees... to create more green space for the city. It is the active participation of all levels, sectors and people in the city that has contributed to protecting the ecological environment, improving the quality of life of the people, joining hands to realize the goal of building Thu Dau Mot City into a green, friendly, livable city.
