Toyota Land Cruiser Prado mild hybrid version launched
The selling price of the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado mild hybrid version in the European market has not yet been announced.

The new generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (250 Series) was first introduced in August 2023. At that time, it was announced that this SUV would have a 48V mild hybrid powertrain, including a 2.8L inline 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine coded 1GD-FTV, combined with an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission and a motor-generator. After nearly 2 years, this mild hybrid version has officially launched in the European market with the name Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V 2025. The car's mild hybrid powertrain is also the type currently used for its brother Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V.
The car's electric motor produces a maximum output of 16 horsepower and a maximum torque of 65 Nm, supporting the main engine when accelerating. According to Toyota, the Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V has a total output of 201 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Toyota has not yet announced the fuel consumption of this model, but promises to be more economical than the regular version. The Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V’s motor-generator works with a two-way belt tensioner specifically designed for diesel vehicles to meet the demands of off-road driving. In addition to providing the necessary belt tension, the electric motor also assists in restarting the engine and improves acceleration response. Noise and vibration levels are also optimized to be on par with gasoline-powered models. The motor-generator integrated into the engine also helps the vehicle start and stop faster and more smoothly, with two modes: Normal and Long. In which, Long mode prolongs the engine shut-off time when the air conditioner is still running. Toyota also notes that when the vehicle is stopped on a slope, there may be a slight delay between the engine restarting and the vehicle generating traction. Therefore, the Stop and Start Assist system will maintain brake pressure until the traction is strong enough, allowing the vehicle to start smoothly. In addition, when the vehicle is stopped on a flat surface, the system will also adjust the amount of torque generated if it exceeds the required level when restarting.
Another function of the electric motor is to regenerate energy every time the driver releases the accelerator and applies engine braking. The recovered energy will be stored in a 48 V lithium-ion battery weighing 7.6 kg, consisting of 13 battery cells and with a capacity of 4.3 Ah. The hybrid battery and its accompanying low-profile DC-DC converter are protected against water. Meanwhile, the battery cooling air intake system is located at the front of the vehicle, where the temperature is lower than the air inside the vehicle. A dust filter prevents dust from accumulating in the battery cooling system and a cooling fan to prevent battery performance degradation in high temperature conditions are also equipped on the vehicle. Toyota says the 48V Land Cruiser Hybrid has no changes to its performance, including its ability to wade through water up to 700mm deep. With smoother acceleration and deceleration, drivers can expect a smoother, more comfortable ride, even when driving over rough terrain. Meanwhile, the interior and exterior design and equipment of the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V are nothing new. This SUV still has a vertical front-end design, a rectangular grille with the word "Toyota" instead of the company's logo, a strong front bumper with integrated fog lights, angular wheel arches, large rearview mirrors, vertical taillights and an upward-opening trunk door.
Meanwhile, the interior and exterior design and equipment of the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V are nothing new. This SUV still has a vertical front-end design, a rectangular grille with the word "Toyota" instead of the company's logo, a strong front bumper with integrated fog lights, angular wheel arches, large rearview mirrors, vertical taillights and an upward-opening trunk door. Inside the car is a 5-seat or 7-seat interior with spacious rear seats and luggage compartment. The car comes with a strong 3-spoke steering wheel, large gear lever and prominent central air-conditioning vents. In the European market, the car has standard equipment such as 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and wireless phone charging. Meanwhile, the higher version adds a front stabilizer bar, 20-inch alloy wheels, a 14-speaker JBL sound system, a head-up display, and leather seats. The price of the Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid 48V in the European market has not yet been announced. Toyota has now opened deposits for this SUV and is expected to deliver the cars from the end of this year.
