At a side event of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota officially introduced the GR H2 Racing Concept, a concept racing car using an internal combustion engine running on liquid hydrogen. This is a major step forward in the Japanese automaker's green technology development strategy, and is also a testament to its efforts to retain the feeling of speed in a zero-emission era.

The GR H2 has a powerful, aerodynamic design with large wings, bold air intakes and a low, sharp stance like a hypercar. Although it is a concept car, the body structure and hydrogen fuel tank layout have been developed for real endurance racing.
Unlike fuel cell or electric vehicles, the GR H2 burns liquid hydrogen in a combustion chamber, generating massive power without emitting CO₂ into the environment. Toyota has tested this technology on the GR Corolla in domestic motorsports and is now upgrading it for Le Mans.

Toyota aims to position the GR H2 as a representation of the future of hydrogen racing, with a dedicated hydrogen class set to officially launch in the next few years. Public testing and refinement of the car will continue into the future, opening up new possibilities for sustainable yet thrilling racing.
